We had a great stay at the Nicholas Tyler Laundry house. It fit our family perfectly and was very comfortable. We had a fun experience living in a colonial home for a few days.

I have always wanted to stay in one of the Colonial Houses after many, many visits to Colonial Williamsburg over the years. This trip I was traveling by myself and stayed at a room in the Market Street Tavern. Perfect central location, charming Colonial style with a very high canopy bed! My air conditioning was not cooling fast enough and after calling Reception at the Inn- the repairman came immediately and resolved- Thanks Stuart! Check in at the beautiful Inn was done efficiently and graciously. I have loved the ambience of these Colonial houses and would highly recommend to others.

My wife and I visited Colonial Williamsburg and stayed in the Orlando Jones Kitchen just off the Duke of Gloucester. We paid over $400 for the night and had the following unpleasant experiences. These issues were conveyed to Colonial Williamsburg’s management and we subsequently received an email apology stating corrections were going to be made. “Your valuable feedback allows us to correct all problems you’ve encountered” we were told. That said, however, we wanted to know what the corrections would be. Management didn’t bother to get back with us. One can assume their apology was a means of trying to placate us with hopes we would not provide this review. Staying at Colonial Williamsburg is expensive and it appears the standards of the property are not up to the task of the amount you are charged. 1. An employee, dressed in costume, yelled at us when we were looking for parking next to the Orlando Jones Kitchen. There were no barricades or signs saying keep out. The employee was extremely impolite, rude, argumentative, and aggressive. He was not at all friendly or helpful. We felt this person has no business being involved with guests and yet he was dressed in costume to entertain. Perhaps this demonstrates management’s poor judgment in hiring or training. 2. Sleeping all night was challenging due to a constant banging noise in the house. My wife and I woke many times and decided to get up early as the sound made it impossible to sleep. We definitely did not have a restful night. 3. The price we paid included a pass to see a number of museum houses. Unfortunately, several were closed and one specifically due to “filming”. We certainly didn’t receive all the benefits that were entitled to us. If you are going to Colonial Williamsburg, be on guard for unfriendly employees, sounds that will keep you awake and the potential of having some of the museum houses closed. We only live about an hour away and cancelled our 3 night’s visit in December when we arrived home.
