I came here once for a gel manicure and pedicure a few weeks ago, and I won’t be back. I waited over half an hour past my appt time to be seen despite only 2 other clients being in the salon at that time. The pedicure was okay, but the gel manicure was terrible. They didn’t clean under my nails. I had no polish on previously, and they used the drill to rough up my nails prior to applying the gel polish and it was painful. They cut my cuticles and left them ragged and then applied polish such that there was about 1-2mm of space between my cuticle and where the polish began, making it look like my nails were already grown out. I also noticed that the nail tech missed a spot on the side of my nail, and I asked him to correct it and he asked me if I would like to cut off that part of my nail.. and I had to reiterate that I just wanted it painted. It also wasn’t much cheaper than going to a regular high quality salon and spa. I went to another salon that offers nail services in the south waterfront area, and the nail tech there had a very difficult time removing the gel polish that Rex nails applied even when soaking in acetone. However, she was extremely helpful and gentle compared to Rex nails, and managed to get my nails back to looking nice.

I used to be a nail tech, so I am very particular about nail services and cleanliness. I have found that the majority of the techs at REX do a good job with cuticle work and polish application. However I have noticed that the nail techs do not wash their own hands in between clients. Something that needs to be adjusted in order to receive a 5 star rating. The salon is usually busy so be prepared to wait or make an appointment in advance.

Chill place, bright & pretty. Doesnt smell like polish. Probably due to the air flow from the open garage door, which looks cool too. Finally got to have a drink at a nail place, which have not been offered at other places. Massage chair couldve had higher pressure. And easier communication with nail tech, but overall it was great.
