Seems like the Opportunity to stay high. Just hang out and some one will offer you to roll a bowl and if you decline, they roll you for what they can find and then get you evicted for having made a complaint.

Very valuable resource for the homeless, this village has been more than vital to my existence since moving to Oregon. Square one villages assisted both myself and my father in becoming housed. They've been very accommodating and resourceful when it comes to getting off the street and being stable, for myself, and at least 5 or six close friends/ family. The Nonprofit organization that founded this (square one villages) are a great example of a transitional housing system that works, hopefully its the model for many other villages because it could fix the homeless situation here in Eugene.

Opportunity Village has been our home since 2020. We are lucky and grateful to OVE and the Village community for the support services and housing during this time of transitions we all are affected by. .

While I was staying at the village, I was exposed to black mold, which made me incredibly sick. Furthermore, I was treated with transphobia by certain villagers, one of whom attempted to assault me. I made a complaint, but the administration did nothing about it. It was a terrible environment for my mental health and after being alienated and treated with transphobia, I became so depressed that I attempted suicide. I was hospitalized and when I returned, I was handed an eviction notice... FOR THE SUICIDE. SOV does NOT care about the people they claim to help. The only times they made attempts to correct the mold, the harrassment, safety conditions, etc, was when villagers explicitly said that they would talk to professionals outside the village. The city attourney has said that they are under Eugene landlord tenant law, however they are not in compliance with the law. Furthermore, the domiciles aren't even up to the code they claim to be under. The village needs to be shut down and the board of directors should be audited.

Questions & Answers

In your Transitional Community is there someone who wants carpenter work? John Jacobson of Mount Hood Organic Farms keeps asking me to leave San Francisco to help him, and I would rather he hire locally.

If you are asking about the homes being built at Cottage Village, they should be finished in May.

I am just starting to research tiny homes in Eugene. I am not indigent, so would like a park where I could have land to lease and bring in a tiny home. What do you advise?

Finding sites where you can park a tiny homes on wheels is very difficult unfortunately. We already had more demand than available sites and then the recent wildfires have made them even harder to find. You can try advertising on Craigslist.

Will you help out of towners who need a new beginning, willing to work and find employment and willing to pay

Opportunity Village is a transitional housing service that is operated by Square One Villages. There are application forms for single and couples units at our gate house as we are accepting applications. The waiting list for singles is about a year and couples lesser than a year. If your trying to find a job I would suggest the Goodwill Jobs Connect at either Seneca or the Green Acres Road Goodwill building in the Eugene Oregon area. Square One Villages also operates Emerald Village and the village in Cottage Grove Oregon.

The village does not sell the houses, but you can apply to stay there by just going to the site and asking for an application. The wait period can be as long as a year unfortunately.
