This is a beautiful park above La Jolla and PB with 360 degree views of San Diego and the Ocean. The cross is now fenced off and they’ve made it into a Veteran’s Memorial. Parking is hard to find on busy days. Stunning views!

It’s a nice place to give respect and reminisce military loved ones. There also a short trail to hike at the side of the memorial. Trail is steep, not marked, should wear hiking shoes and be careful on loose rocks and dirt.

I've been in La Jolla once before and can't believe I missed visiting this location the first time. It was a bit of an effort to navigate the roads and turn in here, but very cool place to visit. The views were amazing and enjoyed reading some of the memorials.

Beautiful spot with a 360 view of San Diego. Free parking and there's plenty of spots because there's 2 parking lots (everyone tries to get to the parking lot near the monument and you can get lucky because lots of people are coming in and out). Definitely a great tourist spot to visit on your SD trip

Why would Jewish or atheist or other non Christian veterans want to see this religious symbolism?

bob h | Aug 20, 2020
David Paul | Aug 20, 2020

Because it isn't about religion but about RESPECT for those who have served in the United States Military. San Diego was built on the backbone of the United States Military and owes a lot to the Military. If you are American, and even if you aren't, you should want to visit and pay your RESPECTS for those who have served and either were killed in action or did after their service to this nation. Sir, on a battlefield there is NO RELIGION and NO COLOR, there is only Americans standing side-by-side in protection of our country and our way of life who no one should look to take away from us.
