A great variety of sashimi grade seafood to choose from. Scallops and Big Eye Tuna were the first time I had never attempted slicing sashimi. The prep that is done behind the scenes makes it so easy to slice in the correct direction. It really felt intuitive. I grabbed my sharpest knife and went at it with my honing glass. Once I was ready to go, I placed my knife edge against the Tuna and it melted under the slightest touch and nearly zero pressure. The cuts were melty, fatty and succulent. Exactly as I've heard them described. With fresh boiled seaweed and a scoop of steamed, sticky rice dinner was an awesome break away my the rut of making dinner I usually find myself in.

If you're Japanese great little store. It's close to where I live which makes it convenient for me. Mistuwa Costa Mesa is bigger and has more items than Irvine store. Also both stores are very clean.

Mitsuwa is a Japanese supermarket that hosts a number of restaurants and bakery 🥯 eateries. As I learned from some Japanese shoppers, Mitsuwa provides most of the grocery needs. In addition, it has some kitchen and home needs. It also provides some beauty products . There is a dine in area with three restaurants and one 🍮 outlet in addition to a bakery 🧁.

I only went here to for the restaurant inside which I highly recommend for Japanese cuisine lovers. I ordered the Tempura bowl which had two tiger shrimps, with generous sides of tempura battered eggplant, squash, string beans, and another fish. It wasn't the juiciest and the crispiest, but it was tasty enough for its price. The order also came with Edamame and Miso soup which overall is a very filling meal.
