I did my g.r. paperwork online, as well as at the actual welfare office. I was told I'd get a phone call to go over my case. However when she called, she said she had no information and that basically I had to start over. This was after I had turned it in about a week or longer ago. When I told her this, she refused to listen and eventually hung up on me. I called the actual welfare office directly. They said they had all my paperwork and that they didn't know what my case worker was talking about, and to call her back. Well I called her back and she didn't answer. So I left a voicemail. She still never called me back. When I called the welfare office to check on my case, they said my car was closed because I was missing information. Made no sense. Plus my case worker never called me back or anything. So now I'm having to reapply again, and hope that it goes through this time.

I have been homeless for about 7-8 years and the past has always been rough for me but when there is a place like this it really counts for a lot even if the cash assistance is limited but maybe this is selfish of me to say that when it is permitted for me to claim the general relief the table scraps that you recieve anyways it helps not only does it help me keep sane in my despair but it has come down to my being dependant on and when you get a social worker that does not return your phone calls after having had messages every single day not asking desperately just to please call me back avoid you!, What do you do? I tried talking to someone else and they said to contact my g.r. worker, it has left me in a very dark place having to find the resources to travel to the welfare office when i have no transportation nor the money for the bus this person in charge of my case idk is she brand new? Doesnt she realize this money is important to some of us if not all of us why can she not take me serious?

The people giving away phones outside almost beat you up if you don’t talk to them

Decent for a welfare office. Extremely long wait times. Once you're back with the workers you get amazing service. However when you are at the front windows just checking in majority of the time those clerks are very nasty rude and crabby and treat you like dirt like you were a piece of worhtless waste of space. So if I could change anything it would be their attitudes. We are there for help. I can't speak for everyone else but as for me I am only there getting assistance to help take care of my children. I definitely think we deserve to be treated better.

You have to qualify for the hot meals program. Talk to your worker. to c if eligible.
They want you to go to the one for your area. Or call 211 and they may be able to take an application over the phone. It depends.
Question was clear, but how is this? What are the days and hours that the SSI Advocate is there for?
