My girlfriend took her 2018 Subaru Forester to Exeter Subaru for an oil change. Two nights ago I replaced the left front axle and did an oil change. The oil cap required two hands to remove, and almost needed a wrench on it. The oil filter could not be removed by hand and needed a oil filter wrench which is not totally uncommon. But the one thing that bothered me was the oil drain plug was so tight I couldn't get it Loose with a 3/8 ratchet. I had to use a longer half inch ratchet to get enough leverage to break the drain bolt free. And when it finally did Break Free it came out hard the whole way. Luckily it did not remove the threads with it. It was clearly over torqued to an excessive degree. Needless to say she's been told she will not be taking her car back to Exeter Subaru for any more maintenance. And the next time I do an oil change I will have a new replacement drain plug ready to go now that I'm not comfortable with the one I had to put back in the car for now. hopefully the threads in the pan weren't damaged.
