I travel for work and walking through old cemetery's is something I enjoy. I believe this is probably one of the most fascinating cemetery's I've had the pleasure to walk through. And thank you to the maintenance guy, I'm sorry I didn't get his name but he gave me a little history of the cemetery and some places to check out thank you again.

Nice place to walk and reflect

Open sunrise to sunset everyday of the year. Wheel chair and child stroller accessible Free parking Free admission No pets allowed I visted local cemetery's during Memorial Day weekend and the week following, to pay my respects. This park is very beautiful. People bike, run, walk and hang out at this cemetery. I always stayed away from temples of worship and cemeteries but have been drawn to the beauty and peace while traveling. I was amazed to see people just hanging out and exercising in the cemetery. There are a lot of old head stones that are eligible and decaying. If you're in the South Portland area during Memorial Day or Veterans Day visit Calvary Cemetery. Explore the beauty and pay respect to our ancestors.

The OC stands for old cemetery. The cemetery is divided by a railroad. West of the railroad is the new cemetery and has the main entrance with the Jesus statue. You want the east entrance, closer to Main St. There's a handrawn map on the Calvary web site that shows the sections. There's only one M section I see. As far as lot 18 #1, I don't know that set up. We just searched section until we found all we were looking for
Try https://portlanddiocese.org/genealogy - there are 2 Mary Eltman listed in Calvary cemetery.
