Stopped by this shop briefly today during a Salem day tour, and hands down, it has the best energy on Essex Street. Any intuitive / practitioner visiting Salem should make this a must stop.

I think I came on a pretty busy day—until reading the reviews just now, I was unaware of the no phone policy—which I think if I would have been told that entering it would have been a little off putting. Either way, it was a really cute little store with lots of crystal/herb options. It’s a little expensive, but I think you pay a bit of a premium for the experience given the town’s overall vibe. If you’re looking for that authentic Salem-type of purchase, they do work hard to give you that experience, again, for a bit of a premium, but may be worth it if that’s what you’re seeking! :) I’d come again and maybe do the full experience with a reading.

I love this store, I do. It would easily be my favorite in all of Salem, but as a person with an anxiety disorder, this store is not for me. It can be very claustrophobic if at max capacity, which is tolerable, except for the constant check-ins to help move people out of the store. The staff is helpful, but by the 7th check in during the 5 min I was there, I felt unwelcome and was starting to have a panic attack. Also, no phones, which I respect, but if you forget and take your phone out for a moment (like we did to check our account balance before making a big purchase at the store) 3 people immediately yell at you. My wife couldn't stay in the store long enough to look around, she was so panicked and uncomfortable. I wish there was a way to balance customer comfort and the vibe that they are trying to withhold as a popular tourist shop. I have local friends who feel the same as I do. It's a shame. EDIT: Originally had this rating at 3 stars, but the owners response was unwarranted. I get that you want to defend yourselves, but invalidating my experience by saying I'm exaggerating (I'm not - I suppose we were exceptionally unlucky on this particular day at your store - there were three people "checking in" with us at a near constant pace and no matter how polite, is excessive) is not a good look. I've explored plenty of the other shops in Salem and have never had repeated uncomfortable experiences like I've had in this store, no matter how small the store was. I don't leave reviews like this upon my first visit. You said it yourself - the covens cottage is unfortunately not for myself and my wife.

This was my favorite shop to visit while in Salem! They were so sweet and the atmosphere is amazing. This place does not price gouge like many of the other shops we went to and is truly a genuine metaphysical shop. I will definitely be back.

Get a box of kosher salt encircle the house leaving an opening at the door & the the spirits to leave
