Always #1 in my book. They are the kindest most animal loving organization I have ever come across. God bless them.

Amazing. I can't say it enough - what an incredibly important part of our community. The people who work here are compassionate and dedicated. Donate, adopt, spay & neuter!

I love this shelter. It's very clean and the animals are very well taken care of. Please find your new furry friend here...there are wonderful senior animals that need loving homes. One beautiful animal will become your new best friend. Or better yet, volunteer. Once I'm retired I will volunteer at this shelter.

Rescued a dog coming up highway 5 in the middle of nowhere. I was on my way back home to Rohnert Park and I unfortunately couldn't keep the abandoned dog due to housing restrictions. Thankfully, the shelter took him in (with very helpful staff btw) and just merely 2 weeks later he was apparently adopted when I wanted to pay a visit to the dog. Thanks for helping out an animal lover. Much appreciated ROPO animal shelter.

We have a Junior Volunteer program for youth ages 12-18. You can stop by the shelter for an application (we're in the process of changing it to an online registration so check our website for updates). Thanks for the interest!
Feel free to take them to the shelter if you're in RP they can scan them if they're microchiped and find who the owners are
Go by or give them a call
To interact with an animal you will need to fill out an adopter profile and have a staff member or volunteer go over it before visiting with an animal. Though there is always a dog of the day in the office and usually cats in the cool cat lounge :)
Hi Dee, We have kittens for adoption! You can submit an application from the link on our website and describe what you're looking for and we will contact you when we have a good match!! Thanks for thinking of adoption first!!
No, I'm sorry. We don't have any rats at the moment. You might google rat rescues and contact them. I know there is one in Vallejo called Ratical Rats!
There's so many reasons not to do it, besides the expense and risk to the cat, that we won't adopt if that's the intention. Very few veterinarians will perform that procedure these days anyway. There are lots of alternatives that we'd be happy to share with you. Occasionally we'll get in a cat that is declawed and we can keep you in mind when that happens if you'd like.
Our adoption fee is $100. Every dog is vet examined, vaccinated, de-wormed, de-flead, microchipped and spayed and neutered! Pups under 1 year also have a $95 training fee. Thanks for your interest!
One option is to buy pet insurance which gives you some peace of mind if a big vet bill comes along. Banfield, I believe, offers a program where you pay a flat amount each month (so you can budget for it) and it covers all expenses. So there are options. You might also start a private savings plan, where you put $10 or so away each month so that when a big bill comes along you are prepared. You can also shop around for low-cost options for vet care - there is a wide range of prices in our County. But you are right to be thinking about this BEFORE getting a pet!
We sometimes fall behind so we also use a system where you can fill out an adoption profile for our "want" file and we can keep you in mind if the particular animal you are wanting becomes available. If you are checking on a particular animal that was posted as stray we ask that you complete an adoption profile so it can be placed in that animals file. It's so great when an animal is adopted the day he becomes available because we were able to contact someone who had shown interest already!
I believe so. Make sure to go when they are open so you can sign the cat over to them and give them some background on it so they can find it a new home.
Thank you Lowell for asking. We do not accept in pillows. The dogs tend to destroy them and they make a mess. We appreciate your thinking of us though!
No - her adoption is so recent that our webmistress hasn't taken her down yet! Thanks!
We have a couple cats that might fit the bill (none are Ragdoll's though). You might want to come by and check out Yoshi and Kingston. They are both adult and mellow cats. Thanks for the interest!
We have several female guinea pigs right now! In fact we turned over a bathroom them - so come visit our g.pig room!
Ya keep trying
We do use junior volunteers here Lucas. If you just have a few hours to do you can just sign up for a couple work days online (mostly working outside, cleaning up the dog fields, etc.). Go to www.tinyurl.com/jvschool to access the sign-up calendar. Thanks for your interest in helping animals!
How old are they, how big, and what gender? I live in an apt. So it's not a huge house, we have space to run around in the front yard, also are they family friendly, because I have nieces and nephews and a 13 year old brother and sister. I dont believe in the "all pit bulls are dangerous" stereotype. Are they familiarized with other dogs? If they get adopted can you let me know? Someway... Please. Thankyou so much I love bulky dogs like pitbulls! I'll definitely find a way to come see them. Thanks agian!!
Thanks for the offer Kimberlee! We are good right now but will be taking more dogs, I'm sure as they get released. You might stop by and fill out a foster form so we have you on file when the need arises! Thanks
You either have to call and ask or, better yet, drive over there and look for yourself. The staff are very helpful, professional and friendly.
This is not a no kill shelter..to my knowledge
Best to call the shelter directly.
