Just did a short walk around the 2 ponds. It was pretty quiet and relaxing. Saw a few wildlife which is always a bonus when walking through a conserved area.

Beautiful place with walks/trails for every ability. Be aware of your surroundings as we did come across a rattle snake on a path!

Easy, relaxing, dog friendly 1.5 mile walk around the reservoir. Not far from Beverly Hills or the Valley coming up Cold Water Canyon but woodsy enough to feel like your are away from the city. Sit by the water and admire ducks, turtles and Coy fish or setup camp on one of the many benches throughout. Great for an outdoor gathering with parking opportunities all around the reservoir. If 1.5 miles isn't enough you can venture off on a few off trails that lead away from the reservoir.

The park is quiet with a nice trail next to the lake. Look for the stairway at the corner to go down the trail. Watch out for coyotes. Always keep your pets on a leash. Check out the Turtle Pond too for turtles and ducks. You may want to take the upper trail for some sceneries.

Yes you can, it's very cool.
Definitely family-friendly trails. We haven't done them all, but every trail we've been on has been easy on the kids. Particularly the walk around the reservoir, which is generally flat all the way around.
Pick a reason: it leads to a number of serious problems; human food is not healthy for them; they dont need it; they have specialized diets; they can become malnourished or die if fed the wrong foods; their shells cannot maintain proper growth. Keep in mind they also can carry salmonella if you want to touch them also. Just dont. Look at them. Photograph them. Enjoy them. Just resist feeding them. They're fine without you.
I wish I could help you but I was just a passenger in the car. I don't even know the name of the trail. I just know we went up the mountain and then hiked to the waterfall. It was a great hike. Serious downhill and uphill back.
I don't think so, especially on week days.
No it is beautiful public park
No it doesn't.
It's a temporary stage for filming.
No fishing, boating or swimming. Not that kind of lake, its more of a wildlife preserve.
There is chaparral in Franklin
There are no tour guides. It is an open park or space. Rangers are present for your safety.
Yes, Franklin Canyon is the location of many Andy Griffith Show shots!
Hey there and thanks for the question. It real is a great place and has lots of entertainment culture history. There is absolutely no cost. Entrance is free but watch those stops signs. They have cameras and YOU WILL get a ticket in the mail if you run them ☺️. Their is no tour guides but there's a visitors center with staff you you can learn all about the park and it's wildlife. They should be able to answer any questions for you. As far as the beetles pics. I looked them up and as far as I can tell they were taken towards the east side of the park behind the visitor's center. That area now a days is pretty over grown and infested with spiders especially in the summer so tread lightly and cautiously if you do attempt it. Too bad I'm not going today or I'd be more than happy to show you what's what. I've been going to Franklin Canyon before my mother even gave birth to me if you can believe that! You should also give tree people a look. I'm out of characters to type but enjoy!!
Definitely not allowed on trails. You are welcome to ride on the paved road, it's a fun downhill/uphill ride depending where you start. I like to park by the lake, ride down to the reservoir then back up. Edit: I just remembered that there actually is one trail you can ride on, it's towards the bottom of the park on the left hand side. You'll see cars parked on both sides
There are a large quantity of excellent wild turtles living there....in the lake! They are very much at home!
My one issue with Franklin canyon is they do not allow mountain bikes on the hiking trails, though you are free to ride on the paved road. Id recommend stought canyon park in burbank for mountain biking. It's a bit inclined but regardless its one of my favorite trails. Safe riding ✌️ FYI, Griffith park also does not allow bikes on hiking trails
Everything closes at sundown. There are dirt lots on the north and south side of the reservoir and along that paved road. Runner can share the road, most runners keep to the wall side.
