There was nothing about our experience that deserves a positive rating! My father's stay here was just awful, and we moved him elsewhere within 2 days when we realized he was not being given the care he needed, according to the hospital discharge instructions, and his condition. The hospital discharge instructions were that Dad have supervision with all activities of daily living, mobility assistance at all times, and supervision for all meals - none of that happened. He was left to dress himself, undress himself and had no supervision during meal times. The intake was chaotic, and the intake manager was unprofessional, and quite unkind to another resident as we were going through the paperwork at the main desk. Dad could not fit into the bed comfortably - his feet were squashed against the board at the end of the bed, and that was not addressed until we came back the next day and insisted that he be made comfortable, even though we had requested the adjustment on arrival. Medications that were supposed to be given to him the afternoon and evening of his arrival had not been received by their pharmacy by 9:45 pm, and we were called, and had to go back and provide them with our supplies of his medication. Medications were sometimes given to him 2 hours later than the scheduled times, and we had to constantly monitor whether he was receiving his medications. Also medications were supposed to be crushed and given to him in apple sauce because of the high risk of aspiration, and on occasions, he was being given capsules to swallow! The nursing staff were not helpful or interested. And then to top it off, the care team decided on a discharge date for him, for one week after his admission, without including us in any conversation about his state of health. Of less importance, but worth noting is that the wall next to his bed had patches that were not painted, and the bathroom door was buckled. So in summary, I would not recommend this place to anyone who cares about their loved one being taken care of!

My name is Vicky Vorhees and I want to share with you some thing that I very luckily stumbled upon in my need at my 74th year in life to come to the hospital for the very visit of my life, I have been here for three weeks a little over three weeks and it has been one of the most fabulous experiences of my life contrary. This place called Kearny mesa nursing facility is such a great pace because all of the people here are very such as the doctor, nurses, cleaning personnel and all of the support that run all of the testing and cook are such a great people, everyone are very welcoming and pleasant.

Excellent greeting and service. Food is good. Nursing and CNAs are very good. Kayla is very good with admissions and patient relations. Jennifer and Barbara are also very good Lou and Elisa are great. I have never been in rehab before so these people make it easier to deal with. What I’m also very impressed with is the physical therapy team. They are very good with regard to working on my strength and stamina. While my surgery was traumatic, I have every confidence that this staff will help me through it.
