This trail is unique and gorgeous! It gets hilly towards the end, so I recommend doing the trail backwards and starting to the right. Beware, this trail was COVERED in ticks. Wear a hat and bug spray! Do not bring animals here! We spent half an hour picking ticks off of just one dog!

Nice and secluded, no water or electricity. Sites were big, we could fit our 40 foot bus in the spot with ease. With a long RV you will need some leveling blocks but nothing crazy.

I pitched a tent for a night at the Saddle Lake Recreation area. Had a great night's sleep thanks to the cool 72 degree weather and the tall trees that surround the campsites makes for a beautiful backdrop.

Roadside Table

Saddle Lake campground is the last in a chain of developed Forest Service campgrounds in this area. Each near its own little lake. This one being the last in the chain had the least amount of humans and had no fee to use it. As a personal policy, I avoid campgrounds, instead opting for secluded dispersed campsites without humans. In this case I had showed up after dark as I often do and didn't feel like finding a dispersed campsite- something that is rewarding but can take time and is best done in the day. The sites were level and the grounds were clean and well maintained. A big, big thank you to the USDA/ US forest service for keeping camprounds like saddle lake and others like it free and well maintained.
