This company is awesome. Today was a very frustrating day as Lowes delivered our gas range only to find out they only provided basic installation. After many phone calls looking for assistance to remedy our conversion problem, Debbie felt our frustration and sent Joel to the rescue. Joel converted our stove from gas to lp in less than 30 minutes! Thanks Debbie and Joel! You are our heroes!

Really friendly staff and great customer service. Their prices are the lowest in town. They also have a rewards system, every five to seven gallon tank you fill you get one punch on your card; every Thursday it's a double punch. Once you have received five punches on your card, your next fill, you get one either five or seven gallon tank free. That usually saves me anywhere from $15-18; if your next fill is only one tank, then yes, it's still free.

I've been using Blue Star for several years and have always received prompt, very friendly, knowledgeable and courteous service. I also appreciate the punch cards for filling my tanks. The price is competitive and then one is rewarded for their loyalty with the punch cards. They take time to visit and ask about things you've discussed with them previously. I plan on continuing to take my business to the folks at Blue Star

The best people, like Josh and Marissa always helpful, kind and courteous. It's been my experience with every employee that's taken care of me there. Not to mention the best place in the Salem area and beyond for your propane needs. They even have a punch card program that's saved me alot, winter spring summer and fall. I've been buying from them for years now and recommend them to anyone. Their customer concern and care has always been top level. There are many places to get your propane in this area but none will treat you as right as Blue Star on Portland road. Not to mention historically the best prices too. Before I forget, Doug, you were the first person I had contact with a few years back and the reason I came back the second time. Over the years every one you have employed has been as caring, knowledgeable and respectfull to customers as you, a great team leader will always have great team members, a great boss makes great team members. Thanks Blue Star!

Questions & Answers

I have a 100lb tank, that needs to be transported occasionally. Can it be done in a horizontal position ? I don't have a mount for vertical .

All DOT (Dept. of Transportation) cylinders MUST be transported in an upright position. “Cylinders must be transported so that the pressure relief valve is in communication with the vapor space and must be secured to prevent shifting, movement or falling.” This is because if they are laying horizontal and the valve accidentally opens, liquid propane (-44 degrees and highly flammable) would be released posing a major health and safety hazard. When it is transported in an upright position, if the valve accidentally opened, propane vapor would be released and poses less of a threat.

We live in Hope Valley in Turner, Oregon. My question is do we need to have the propane tank covered for winter

Sharon Christen | Aug 20, 2018
Blue Star Gas - Salem Co. | Aug 20, 2019

There is no need to cover your propane tank. It is manufactured to be outside in the elements. However, as we approach winter please make sure that your delivery driver has a clean, safe access to service your propane tank. Please remove shrubs, tree limbs, brush and any other debris from around the tank or in the path to get to your tank. Thank you for your help.
