ECETI Ranch

I was a volunteer at ECETI for 3 months last fall, and Portland is the best airport. It is more like 2.5 hours from Portland to Trout Lake. It is a beautiful drive; the Hood River Gorge is amazing. Stop for necessities in Hood River, OR, it is the closest big town, about 20 minutes from the ranch. Renting a car is ideal. Then you have the means to check out local trails, have dinner in White Salmon or Hood River one night if you like ... It helps a lot. I was there as a guest at the July 4th conference last year, and I had a friend living in WA who was attending the conference w me, pick me up at the Portland airport. It was a marvelous experience, and led to my being a volunteer. If you don't like porta-potties, try and get a room in the guest house which has its own bathroom. Although the bath houses have 3 showers and 3 stalls for each (male and female) and I never had trouble getting a shower when I wanted it. It was unusually hot when I was there, and I was glad i had my swimsuit!

A small detail most neglect to mention is that the air mattress is actually on a bed frame off the ground which is great!

Call ahead. We went in Summer, no event just great company, beautiful skies, and peace. The latter was so appreciated. We stayed in one of the on site yurts. It was clean, rustic and private. Do have the breakfast there. It was fresh and delicious. We met folks from all over, nice people. We will return. One more thing, go when the moon is dark. The stars and other objects are very visible. Enjoy.

I'm not sure what the closest "city" is to eceti, but I'm gonna say Portland oregon is your best shot. Whatever airport they have there.

They ate usually closed tues-thurs to prepare for the next weekend.

Call and leave a message any time. They will call you back in between chores. Ranch is open April-November. Some events take over the whole facility for a weekend or so, so do check the website
