Great service and very good prices. We had two ductless heating pumps installed and the work was great. Our sales agent Rhonda was very friendly and was able to give recommendations that saved us money.

Installation of a mini-split system with 4 heads into a 100-year old house. We talked with 3 contractors around similar systems (one also used Daikin, the other Mitsubishi). The Heat Pump store was the most reasonably priced (seriously, another location with the SAME MANUFACTURER/MODEL was almost double, insane) They didn't try to upsell, we discussed how the lines would look on the side of the house, and where the outdoor unit would reside. We went into their showroom and looked at the standard and the fancy air handler, and ultimately chose to get the fancy air handler in all of the rooms as we like the streamlined look better. We got on their schedule, all the stuff arrived on time (we booked out a couple months. Don't wait, people!!) Install took one day (a very solid day for them). Was absolutely everything perfect? Come on, is anything in construction ever perfect? There's always one little thing or another to work through, and if you don't understand that, then I feel sorry for your contractors. The important thing is that they responded and addressed two cracked outdoor shingles once we spotted it (which is the old asbestos shingle, so brittle) afterwards, no complaints. We worked through the various day-of-install tweaks that needed to be done (adjusting where the outdoor lines would run), confirming indoor placement, etc. They demonstrated how to work everything at the end of the day. Oh, and pro-tip? If you are planning on painting, paint the area where the air handler will go before installation. Then you don't have to try to work around it :-) Very happy with the results, thank you Heat Pump Store!

Earl was professional and quickly helped us figure out the right Ductless Mini Split system for our house. Out of four quotes the Heat Pump Store was the most reasonably priced. Installation done in one day! Works better than I imagined at heating/cooling entire rooms. Very pleased!

We were introduced to the heat pump store some years ago when we shifted from wood stoves and forced air wood furnace. It was a big step for us. We have four interior units in the residence fed by two exterior units. We also have one interior unit n a separate building office studio space. All units are Mitsubishi. We have found the company, their owners, employees to be professional and responsive to help meet our needs. We have had disconnects and re connections during building renovations. We have been fortunate to receive very good helpful tech help over the phone in a couple instances. We are a bit dismayed that the wondeful help is dispatched from Portland Metro. That is a minor complaint about this company that stands by their product and service. We have recommended them to more people I can remember. It's a great outfit to deal with.

Questions & Answers

Do these units work hand in hand with current home a/c units or replace them?

Yes they can work together with an AC system that is already in the house. Say you have a two-story house and the bedrooms upstairs do not have significant heating or cooling you can install systems upstairs and keep your traditional system in place. Tons of flexibility with these systems.

I heard you can run some of these smaller a/c units on solar only. I want to do this setup for my RV, is this something your technicians can do?

Hi Ash, A ductless heat pump could definitely be powered by solar electricity - we would not be able to tie it in directly to panels (or other solar source) but if you are generating enough power for 115v 15amp circuit then you are good to go. We wouldn't recommend installing on an RV unless it's permanently parked. These systems are not designed to withstand the vibration and bumps of travel.
