Great spot at the end of the strip so the beach isn’t super crowded however you are more than a walk to the local night life if that’s what you like. The hotel attracts mostly families with young kids and us two pools. This is an affordable family location in a safe pretty spot. The draw backs are the age of the hotel. It doesn’t seem to be update or kept up. Our mattress was springy you can see nail holes and scuff marks on every piece of trim. Rust dirt hallways with paint chips everywhere. Overall I can overlook all that for the location but the staffing is an issue. It seems like I’m my four days here they have the same tired overworked employees running the desks. They are super friendly but you feel bad for them. The bar/restaurant isn’t worth your time(if you can even catch them in the brief few hours they are open). Expect overpriced Denny’s food and a wait staff/bar tenders with no personality. If you want the beach at low cost for this are then she’ll island is your place. I think they could turn this place around with a fresh menu, some more employees, a little paint and elbow grease and actually open up the amenities they have downstairs. I gave three stars because it is a good location and there are some employees who are trying their hardest to keep the guests happy. I took two stars off for the upkeep of the hotel and the noise level in the rooms as well as the poor experiences with the restaurant.

The rooms have great view of the ocean and were nicely equipped. I would recommend to add some salt, pepper, and oil for those guests that want to cook what they catch. Parking accessibility was perfect. The beach was also pretty good, clean, and equipped with chairs for rent. Things that earned it a 4 star rating: The ice machine and elevators need more frequent maintenance. The restaurant seemed to be closed the whole time we were there, so we never experienced it. For a beach resort, I would expect the personnel to be more bubbly and happy.

I’ll start with the ONLY positive. The hotel staff were lovely. However, this hotel was filthy!!! I will attach pictures of the toilet, tub, and even the nasty refrigerator. Also, the kitchen table had paper towels under the leg to support it, the furniture had stains on it and the beds were HARD and lumpy. After taking pictures of the room to the front desk, they moved us to another room. That room was pretty much run down as well so I assume that’s the best the hotel could do. In our new room the refrigerator wasn’t working so ALL the refrigerated food we brought with us had to be thrown out!! So they sent someone to repair and eventually replace the broken refrigerator! Now to address the WORST thing of all. The sewage smelling water!!! They said it smelled that was because they use well water. So they sent someone to our room to flush the pipes. It did NOT help. The smell of the water was nauseating!! This was an awful experience for a vacation. I could have had less stress just staying at home. Definitely the worst hotel we have ever stayed in!!! I hope this review saves someone else from such a stressful experience. Go somewhere else and enjoy your well earned vacation.

This place is actually very nice well kept up. You do have to park in a small tight parking garage. The reason for 4 star instead of 5. I went down to get coffee in the morning and the guy at the desk was slightly rude especially his tone. He said we have provided everything you should need for you to make coffee in your room. He never asked me if I needed anything else for my coffee. He said if you want made coffee you have to buy it from the restaurant. There was no cream and only 2 sugar packets in the room. The coffee at the restaurant is $3 per cup. That price is crazy it's not a professional coffee shop. As much as you pay to stay there you would think they could at least have a station for you to get some cream and sugar for your coffee you need to make in your room. Beautiful beach views from the rooms though.

The hotel is on the beach. Just get on the elevator go down to the main lobby and walk out the door. It takes maybe 2 minutes if that. Hope this helps
Yes there is a very small gift shop.no on children's books
I do not know for sure but I did not see any pets when we stayed there and i did not see any amenities for pets
No Shell Island is not pet-friendly. For this reason you are renting a condo for the weekend or for the week. Pets severely limit your ability you continually rent out your unit. I e people are allergic smells the mess the cleanup. But the beaches are friendly long as you clean up after your
