New ownership is revitalizing this long time fixture in downtown Newland. Close proximity to Grandfather Mountain, the Blue Ridge Parkway, and area ski resorts and availability of short and long-term rentals make this an attractive place to stay.

Our room was nice enough, bed was semi-comfortable, the window a/c is tough to run at night if you don't want people seeing in your room. The overall noise of the guests could be heard almost anytime and most guests were smoking just outside their rooms which filled out room.

I had a wonderful stay at the Shady Lawn Lodge! My boyfriend and I stayed the night when I went to go visit him on his Appalachian Trail thru hike. Not only were the rooms were spotless and the bed was very comfortable, but the hospitality was top notch. My family had asked the hotel manager to help arrange the delivery of champagne to our room through a third party service for a small surprise celebration. Once my family realized that the service did not deliver in the area, the hotel manager went out of her way to personally pick up a bottle of champagne, a card, and glasses and deliver everything to our room for check in, completely on the house. They went above and beyond to ensure that we had a memorable weekend. Shout out to Amanda from the Shady Lawn Lodge for pulling it all together. If I am ever back in the area I will definitely be staying here again!

My fiancé and I stayed here over valentines weekend and loved it. The staff is friendly and the place is clean. That is not why I am leaving this review though. We left a laptop in our room when we left and they took the time to call us and let us know and were willing to ship it to us instead of us having to go back to get it. We will definitely be returning.
