Beautiful view from the parking lot and picnic shelter across Fort Hoskins grounds and down the lock commute River Valley. Great 1.7 mile loop trail above picnic shelter parking lot. Top of loop looks out across Kings Valley. Wheelchair accessible path at picnic shelter and bathrooms. Very nice and clean bathrooms. Pictures are from two different times.

OK place to launch a boat. Lots of parking. Good toilets. No picnic area which is a big miss as there is plenty of room. No maintained shore line so again a bit of a miss.

This is a gem of a stop! There is a .6 mile loop with signs explaining the history of this interesting site, from Native American to Fort to pioneer history. It is a beautiful location, with an old orchard and valley view. There are well maintained restrooms and a very nice, large covered picnic area. I want to return to go on the 1.2 mile hike to the wildflower meadow!

Hey Laurie, it is definitely posted that metal detecting is not allowed. It is an ongoing archeology site through OSU and Benton County. There are items and information at the museum in Philomath from Fort Hoskins. Some pretty cool, and sad history for this area.
I do not believe they allow that , being a historical sight .I would contact Benton country park to clarify that
