I love this intentionally inclusive space with an excellent variety of climbing routes, whatever your skill level! They have great kid spaces, great space for classes, great space for celebrations... The staff are all super helpful and awesome, the events with the lower event price are better introductions... I've literally been waiting for over a decade to have a great bouldering gym near me again, and this one I love even more than the first one that set that high bar! Yay, VRG! (PS: secret hidden dinosaurs 🦕🦖 are a bonus feature ;))

Community oriented space welcoming to everyone. So glad to have this place in town. Everyone in the staff and attendees are super friendly and helpful

It's a bit small, but their route setting schedule keeps it interesting. They have a lot of yoga offerings which are included in their fees and makes the slightly steeper price (compared to other gyms) worthwhile. The owners genuinely care about the community and your input, which also adds to the value. Overall, Corvallis is lucky to have it in town.

It was pretty obvious when they first opened that they cater heavily to children. With having two dedicated "kids" areas, but also allowing kids full access to the rest of the gym during all open hours, you can see why. The rules are supposed to be that the children need to be supervised under a certain age, but obviously, as with most places, the parents pay little to no attention to there kids. Some even just leaving actual babies on the crash pad while they were climbing. On top of that, they also have several kids "classes" (daycare), where 15-20 kids are often swarming large portions of the gym, obviously with little supervision and with no regard to climbing gym etiquette (climbing close to others, walking under people, etc.) I'm assuming they don't do a great job of teaching them the proper etiquette, but also, these are actual toddlers and small children being put in harms way because of the lack of supervision by the class leaders. There is though, supposed to be one area where children under 14 are not allowed to go under any circumstances, this would be the fitness training area in the downstairs portion of the gym, where people are lifting hundreds of pounds and doing delicate workouts that require a good amount of focus. But of course, parents are constantly letting their children run around the fitness area like it's a playground, where they could most certainly hurt themselves or others. Even recently, I've seen youth class leaders (actual staff of the gym) let their class of maybe 15 kids, play in the training area, next to people squatting heavy and lifting heavy dumbbells. Either these staff don't know the rules, or they just don't care, because they were instructed to do anything to keep the kids coming back, thus helping the gym rake in money from wealthy parents putting their kids in glorified daycare classes. A great climbing gym otherwise, just incredibly obvious where their priorities lie when it comes to their members.

Valley Rock Gym is mostly bouldering. We have a small 22' tall auto belay/top rope wall. Lots of bouldering and climbing training as well as Fitness and Yoga. Thank you for your question!
A Day pass for youth/student/senior is $16. Children 14 and younger must be supervised at all times but can be accompanied by an adult who is NOT climbing, everyone will be required to have a waiver on file. With the current Covid restrictions and capacity we will likely have a reservation system in place when we open. As restrictions ease the reservation system will go away. Thank you for supporting the Valley Rock Gym!
