Awesome park for kids. Lots of shade and the river is right by many of the spots.

Where do we even start. When we showed up, the check in station said open at 3 and it was almost 4 and no one was there. We drove through and got to the park where we weren’t greeted by anyone, we had to ask them to come over and check us in. We finally find our spot (it’s not very clear which spots are which) and we were happy to find that it had shade. We start putting everything together and get all set up. As our other parties show up, they had the same “greeting” as we did. Very rude. We start to notice that there are quite a few spiders on the property. I’ll preface this by saying, people in our party weren’t really fearful of spiders, but I am. At one point we look up at a tree and it is COVERED from top to bottom in HUGE spiders. River spiders. I don’t care if they are harmful or not. Throughout our stay, they covered our RVs and tents all day and night. They covered the ground all day and night. They covered the opening of the bathrooms. They covered our chairs, the picnic tables, our tables we brought. All we could say is that it is like the movie arachnophobia. On top of that, we were a larger group with kids. We like to play music at a reasonable level and we were watched and told to quiet down. Our dogs were leashed and they told us multiple times they weren’t. We left the park going the wrong way (because we had never been there before) and they followed us to a separate park to tell us we can’t drive that way. It was like we were children. The last night they told us we were being too loud at 10:10pm when we were literally just sitting around the fire laughing. Needless to say, we will not ever be going back again. Terrible experience. I wish I could give 0 stars.

A good value for camping. Just don't show up before 3PM. No early check-in, no exception. One annoying aspect of the sites, the table, grill and other stuff is over 50 feet away. Nope, we didn't use any of it, as it was really inconvenient.

This is a restricted access, island based park and campground. Restrooms were closed and locked when I visited, as was the entry shack and a concession stand despite it being noon on a summer Monday. Signs were plastered everywhere reinforcing their rules, which were many. There is a day-use fee but no envelopes were provided to collect it and the park host was not around. The park itself was pretty, with lots of shade from mature trees, and plenty of well manicured grass for picnicking. The dock and boat ramp is large, with plenty of parking, there is a campground farther along the road, but unless you have paid reservations you aren't even allowed to drive through to check it out first. Surveillance cameras in use and speed (5-15 mph limit) is monitored by radar. Honestly, although it was a lovely area, I got the distinct feeling they are trying to limit access to an exclusive clientele!! I will not go back and wouldn't even consider paying to camp there. There are nicer places to spend the day by the river that are free.

If you take a hike on the trails do you have to watch out for snakes there, or just of trail hiking?
If you stay in the grassy park area you should be fine. But if you venture off into the desert they are there
You can show up whenever, but might have to wait in the parking lot until 3. You can always drive up to the host's camper and ask if you can set up earlier. I don't know if they'll let you though.
