I’m an overnight travel nurse and have been coming to this orange theory for weeks. I have enjoyed every second of it and the trainers are amazing. However, on my way to the 10am class, there was a detour and I arrived at 10:06. The owner harshly greeted me at the door and told me I couldn’t go in. I explained to her that I never knew about this rule and if she could grant me a one time exception and she told me no and showed me the policy. I would never treat a customer that way. This has honestly upset me so much, I drive 20 minutes to get to class because I love it here, but I cancelled my membership on the spot. Not only was she rude, but completely inflexible. People are having a hard enough time right now during Covid, especially as a nurse, the least she could have done was allow me to work out this one time, seeing it was 10:06. Disappointing.

This is simply the best workout you can do. It’s hard but manageable, and because of the heart rate monitor it’s individual. I only watch my numbers to keep myself in check. After every workout I feel like I did something really good for myself. Thanks to the coaches for the right combination of coaching form and motivation.

I love the fact that no two workouts are exactly the same. Keeps from getting bored with the routine. You have an amazing staff. The spirit of community and energy is infectious and they are genuinely nice people who clearly love what they do and enjoy building relationship and interacting with the membership. The coaches are also very knowledgeable about fitness and overall health, diet and exercise. They are so open to helping any member and never make you feel like a dope for not understanding something or asking for help more than once. My wife and oldest daughter also below. Our daughter got us hooked and I'm grateful to her every day. We are all in better shape today then we have been in years. My wife and I have both overcome goals we were not previously able to. I highly recommend OTF Portsmouth to anyone looking to improve their overall health.

I have NEVER had a fitness experience like this before in my life, and I come from a background of being a student at various fitness studios/gyms and teaching group exercise. Orangetheory as a company should be extremely proud of the way the Portsmouth, NH location handles itself. I was given white glove treatment from the time I requested more information about taking my first class for free, all the way up to when I walked out the door following my first class. Everyone I spoke with or interacted with in some way was extremely friendly and told me (and showed me!) everything I needed to know to feel welcomed and successful in my first work out with OT. I was never pressured, but only pushed to do my best and figure out what class package will work best for me and my schedule. I will absolutely be back, and I can feel the results already from just one class. Bravo, Portsmouth Orangetheory! Thank you!

If you’ve already been doing Orangetheory and become pregnant, check with your doctor first. Our heart rate monitoring is a perfect way to keep an eye on your intensity as you progress through your pregnancy. If you are a few months into your pregnancy and haven’t been doing any sort of fitness training, wait until after you have your baby and we can help get you back into shape!
Absolutely. Our coaches are trained to provide options for each exercise on the floor, in addition to offering a low-impact bike and strider alternative in place of the treadmill for lower body injuries or orthopedic restrictions.
Of course. Orangetheory is geared toward ALL levels of fitness and everyone is free and encouraged to go at their own pace. We recommend trying a free introductory workout, then discussing any thoughts or questions you may have regarding your fitness goals, with your coach.
Splat Points indicate minutes spent in the orange and red zones. Aim for 12 or more Splat Points per class.
Orangetheory is 5 Zone heart rate based interval training using specifically designed and timed interval training blocks. During a workout, members focus on Zones 3, 4 and 5. The workouts are designed to produce 12 minutes or more in Zones 4 & 5 combined (to achieve the after burn) during the treadmill training portion of the workout.
We’ll ask that you arrive no more than 15 minutes before workout and avoid congregating in the lobby.

Our workout room has a variety of equipment including treadmills (bikes and striders as alternatives), WaterRowers, and floor equipment including dumbbells, benches, TRX suspension trainers, medicine balls, BOSU trainers and AB Dollys.
Orangetheory is a 1-hour, full body workout, focused on training to build endurance, strength and power. We use heart rate-based interval training, which burns more calories post-workout than traditional exercise. When wearing our heart rate monitors, your real-time results are displayed on large screens throughout the studio. Intensity is based on your individual heart rate zones, making the workout effective for all fitness levels. To top it off, our fitness coaches lead the workout to prevent you from overtraining or undertraining.
OTbeat™ is our exclusive heart rate monitoring technology. Members have the unique experience of seeing real-time data during their workout, enabling them to push themselves to new limits. After class, they can then monitor their improvements through emailed results and by using the Orangetheory Fitness app.
