Buying a first subcompact tractor, I researched major brand specifications and equipment reviews and watched hours of Youtube consumer and commercial posted videos. I also visited various dealers to get an understanding of what it would be like doing business with them over the long haul if I purchased a tractor from them. Surprisingly, most dealers, of most brands, are proficient at giving you quotes, but not so much at answering questions about the products they sell. Press for more, and chances are they will stop taking your calls or stop answering email. Many of the dealers are small businesses, understaffed, and carrying little inventory. Often, they can't even show products of interest. Hall implement Co. answered all of my email questions in depth and with patience. I honestly think they like talking about the products they sell and they certainly know them well. When I stopped in, they showed me all of the equipment of interest, explained differences, features and options. Zero pressure sales and specific recommendations based on my applications. I live on 80 acres of woodland with lots of clearing and landscaping projects in the schedule. Instead of associating tractor size to acreage, Bob matched the tractor to the task. So I purchased a subcompact 1025R with front loader, backhoe, snow blower, and grapple. 0% interest financing took a a few minutes to arrange, as did the rest of the paperwork processing. Carolyn had everything organized and ready to go, including a box of manuals, service materials and a Hall Implement Deere green hat. After purchase, I thought I was going to get a quick walk through on the equipment, but Dave went through the tractor and accessories in detail and had me participate in installing and removing the loader, backhoe, snow blower, and grapple. He also went through all of the operating controls, safety features and tips to optimal and safe operation. It was a lot of fun and the orientation removed all of my concerns of having to deal with too much complexity. It also highlighted how much John Deere put into making life easy for a customer with operating instruction on the equipment, color coding of connection, easy access to service areas, etc.. Terrific place of business. Really nice people. Happy I made the purchase. I know, long review, but they earned it.

Third generation shopper. The Halls have earned our business each time. It makes me happy that it matters to them. We've had the pleasure of buying Deeres for our farm and for mowing the lawn. Parts prices are really not that bad for genuine deere quality, which in these times quality is darned hard to find.

I wish I could review them higher as I do believe ultimately they try to operate a fair business. I have bought parts and other items from Hall in the past and for the most part, I liked working with them. This most recent time, I needed my tractor repaired and took it in for service. Its an older tractor (2004) and needed a good looking over along with some hydraulic leak repair. I had originally spoken to a sales representative before going because I was on the fence of whether to repair it or replace it. I told him I'd be dropping it off and if the cost of repairs exceeded its worth, I'd just get get the basics done and look at a replacement model. When I dropped off the tractor, I asked that they call me to keep me posted on what needed to be done and give me an estimate of cost, they called twice as requested and updated me on the what they were finding. However, I was never given any solid of cost to repair what I had approved for servicing despite my request. I was just told that it's hard to say until they get into it and see exactly whats going on. That said, a week passed and I called to check in. I was told the repair was just about done and would hear from someone within a few days to let me know when it could be picked up. A couple days later they called as suggested and let me know it was all set for pickup. At that point I asked what the final bill was and my heart dropped when they gave me the total. It was 200% more than I was anticipating given some rough numbers they had ball parked prior to starting the repair. Ultimately, I'm not suggesting their pricing is unfair. I'm just saying that from a consumer standpoint, it was far more than I wanted to spend on the issue and would have readily spent the few thousand more than I was expecting on a new machine and been content with my tractors condition with the minor repairs that were absolutely needed. Now I have a tractor at 65% that has more money in it than its worth and I don't want to spend thousands more on top of that buying a new machine. Bottom line is this. They have a good team of people who I believe genuinely care about there positions and just think the communication could have been far better. I was treated kindly by most of the employees aside the young lady that sits at the front desk, I felt as though she could care less to have me as a customer, avoided helping me all 3 times I was in the store and was passively aggressive when she did communicate at me. I haven't tested the repairs as of yet and from what I could tell thus far, they appear to have been done well. I am a small business owner and if I handled my customers the way I was handled, I'd most likely lose customers as they have lost me as a customer. I truly hope this review helps other potential customers be conscious to get a cost of repairs up front and I hope management sees this review and communicates this to their representatives and especially the young lady at the front desk who is the first representation of the business the customers communicate with.
