One of the best things to do in Unity Maine! So educational and the alpacas are so beautiful! I would definitely go back!

I’m doing the 2022 Maine Yarn Cruise and rating all the shops. Ok, I’ve got a lot to say about this beauty of a find on Rte 1! First of all, there are actually two locations: the retail shop on route one and the actual farm (with a second small gift shop) in Unity. Both are real finds! The yarn is deliciously soft and warm and I can personally attest after visiting farm that the alpacas who give the yarn are VERY well treated and loved. They even have padded floors in the barn! The shop is well rounded with yarn and other alpaca fiber gifts, like mittens, sweaters, shawls and slippers. The woman working there obviously was very proud to be working for such an animal friendly organization and shared fun alpaca facts with us. If you’ve ever been curious about alpacas or their fiber, you can’t miss a stop at both locations!

This not an all around yarn store. It is an alpaca yarn store, a very good one given the states limitation

I was skeptical ordering socks online without being able to see or feel them....holy WOW, I am so glad I took the chance! These socks are awesome, so soft, so beautiful, so cozy! I ordered them for my dad, and I was worried they wouldn't fit over his calves and reach his knees, and I could tell right away that they will fit perfectly. Jumping off this review to order a few more pairs....highly recommend!

Alpaca should be treated as you would any other fine natural fiber. Dry cleaning works well for large items like coats or sweaters, as long as the service has experience with alpaca fiber. For the majority of products, gentle hand washing and laying flat to dry works best. A mild soap or shampoo may be used for more heavily soiled items. Avoid agitation and wringing of the fabric.
