Let me first start off with the good. The atmosphere was perfect, the wait to be seated was not very long, and some items we ordered tasted great. The experience I had, however, was awful. Once we were seated and had our food order placed (smoked ham eggs benedict, hash and eggs, pancakes, rice and beans), we waited for AN HOUR for our food to come out. Our waitress never checked in at all to alert us of why it was taking so long. She only took our order, brought our drinks, and the next time she came over was to deliver our food an hour later. Apparently the normal amount of time to wait for a meal at this restaurant is 50 minutes, but I was completely unaware of that. As anyone would be. So my girlfriend and I were just sitting at our table for an hour, no communication from our waitress, wondering why it was taking so long. When our food did come, I asked why the food took an hour, and she gave me a rushed response along the lines of “we’re a cook down today so it’s only 2 cooks for the entire restaurant and also it usually takes around 50 minutes anyway for food to come out but sorry about that”. Now, my girlfriend and I are the most understanding people, both of us have worked in restaurants and the service industry in general for several years, but sitting down waiting for an entire hour for brunch? Without knowing anything of why it was taking so long? That’s not cool. We would have asked our waitress why earlier, but she never checked in with us so we never got the chance. It made us feel entirely uncomfortable and not wanted as a guest in this restaurant. We did talk to the manager as well because we truly felt like we didn’t get a good experience, and he brushed us off and we ended up paying the full price on the bill and leaving. We really wanted to enjoy this restaurant, if someone had told us that it would take at least 50 minutes average for meals to come out we would have been more prepared and understanding. If our waitress came to tell us they were short staffed and the kitchen is taking longer than usual, no problem at all!! I’ve been there! I completely understand! But just the way we were treated was honestly uncomfortable and unacceptable. So many more spots in Maine that will actually be friendly with you and make you feel welcome. Don’t come here.

Very nice patio to enjoy an outdoor breakfast! We had the lemon ricotta pancakes and the hash and eggs. Both were excellent. Prices are very reasonable, service was great. One of the better breakfast places we have tried! Will be back!

Simply put: outstanding! I rarely find a place that does everything right in my opinion but this place did. Immediately got seated in a nice little outdoor area, ice water and glasses ready at the table. The menu left no questions with its description of items and the wait staff was helpful as well. My burger was cooked to perfection, as was my egg. The potatoes were outstanding. And the hot sauce. I've never had better anywhere. House made and sadly, not for sale.slight smokey flavor, very thick, not too spicy but still with kick. My wife greatly enjoyed her sandwich as well. If you're in the area this really needs to be a stop on your list. I know I'll be coming every time I'm within an hour's drive.

Wonderful little eatery. Full farm to table is always a great thing in my book. I had the Smoked Ham Eggs Benedict and it was delicious. The alcohol drink menu was equally stunning. I enjoyed a raspberry puree mimosas. All the staff was very nice and helpful

No it is not typically open in winter.
The Hoot does have/sell GCs. They are not open year round...I believe Mar/Apr thru Oct/Nov, but I'm not entirely sure.
They have a variety to pick from, many homemade dishes.
