Came to Salvation Army because my family was hungry and in need of a food box because our income has stopped due to COVID-19. I had suspicions b/c I am a member of the LBGTQ+ community, but I was greeted by Lt Nathan who was friendly and very helpful. No judgement, just professionalism. All he asked was my name, address and how many people in my house. Came right out to my car & took precautions to keep us all safe. The foodbox fed us for a week! Salvation Army helped us when we needed it most and they changed my mind. Recommend for anyone who is hungry and in need.

You ought to go in and ask if they still help with gas. Don't be opened around 10 a.m. this morning
The Salvation Army in Newport is a Worship and Family Services Center and has a free clothing closet for the community. There is not a Salvation Army thrift store in this area.
