Unique experience! It is privately owned, but beautiful to view. Read up on the history of how it was created back in 1908 and they have oxen to help build it!

No access to take a good picture

The Cobbosee Light House really can only be viewed by water. I suggest checking into a boat rental at Lakeside Marina in Winthrop Me. There is a state boat launch on Turtle Run Road in Winthrop as well as a state boat launch in Monmouth Me. From the Winthrop launch, the lighthouse is approximately 1 mile south on the lake and is visible as soon as you clear the cove from the launch. Definitely a must if you boat on Cobbosee Lake.

Drove around the lake and could only find private access to the lake. The lighthouse was a speck in the distance, couldn't get close enough for a decent photo.

The story told in my family is that In the old days men would take their sweethearts out to the lighthouse for a picnic while they were courting. This delighted the Ladies and the name stuck 'Ladies Delight Lighthouse'.

No, it's on a island in the middle of the lake
No one lives on the tiny island
