Typical government agency. Takes forever to process and updated information. No responses to emails either.

If I could get 0 stars I would. This "Organization" has no organization. You simply cannot get ahold of anyone on the phone, you cant go in person to their headquarters in salem. (I went and its not open to public anymore). You simply can't do anything anymore. We have even emailed multiple times and no response. It's merely impossible to renew any certifications or get any communication from staff and I would not be surprised if certain individuals were working unlicensed because of this failure of a "Contractor's Board". Most Oregon State's agency's have been a failure in communication and I hope something changes before this state falls apart like downtown Portland.

Just called about renewal as it was my first time having to do it online as my agents been sick and we moved. Been on the phone all day with other agencies and the lady I spoke with was the most unhelpful and short individual I have ever dealt with. You can do better.

I am a subcontractor and the contractor on the job took money out of my check for a job that the customer was not happy with. I was not given the option of going back to the job site to try to fix the problem. What recourse do I have?

Lisa Shook | Aug 19, 2018
Marc Kinyon | Aug 19, 2018

They changed the law i believe. Contractors, from what i understand, are no longer guaranteed a chance to go fix the problem. The homeowner, etc can hire someone else to do the disputed job if they want. Pretty crappy but thats how it works i believe

You are required to place your license on inactive and pay the fee every 2 years. You can reactivate. You cannot allow a license to lapse and then " Reinstate" . You will need to start all over.

We just had our house inspected and the buyer came with the inspector? That didn't seem right to have him there? Was that legal and / or ethical?

A Google User | Aug 19, 2018

Typically, the buyer hires the home inspector. The buyer is typically encouraged to be present during the inspection, which allows for clarification and questions about what is found.
