It has a hike side and a walk down side. The hike side is slippery, but an amazing experience. Wear long pants

One of my favorite places to beach-walk or scuba dive! Lots of people on weekends (both on the beach and diving). Dive entry is beach.... it stays quite shallow (~200 yards) and then you are upon La Jolla canyon wall. Lots of sea life that varies sll year round (squid runs, mola mola, halibut, sheep crabs, spiny lobster, jellyfish, pipefish, and various rays and sharks). Air fills are available from nearby dive shop. Night diving is excellent!

Nice view of the cove. You can see a lot of seals lying on the ground. There’s a cave like tunnel where you can take beautiful pictures.

Super cool place to visit if you're ever in San Diego. I came here to visit with a friend for a quick trip and the vibe was nice. I really enjoyed the beach and the history around it. It doesn't get too crowded and it's pretty clean. There are a lot of stores around where you can rent various aqua gear like kayaks, snorkeling equipment, surfboards, etc. Plenty of quick bites nearby as well. Great vibe in the San Diego area

It is free unless you go on an organized tour. There are a bunch of tour operators near the beach
There's a natural barrier i.e. the kelp that's grows there that keeps the larger predators out and makes it a shelter for juvenile fish
When I went I bought my tickets through groupon and it was very cheap.
No. The underwater park falls within the Matlahuayl State Marine Reserve so you cannot fish there. If you go north of the underwater park, at Scripps Pier, limited fishing is allowed.
