Repairs well done. The technician explained problem and corrected it.

The service man was very professional and my dryer worked when he left but the 2nd day after the repair it's doing the same thing it was doing when I called in for service. I need to call them again for another repair visit.

We have had touch and go with Sears service over the past few years. Twice we had them for reasonable and well done repairs on our washing machine and were pretty happy, but it took them 10 days to come. Last week we called them for a dishwasher repair. They could come within 48 hours, which is great, much faster wait time than usual. However, the technician came in, spent 5 minutes pressing some buttons, told me I needed a new control panel and that total for parts and services would be $600+. I paid the diagnostic fee and sent him on his way. Found the part for under $200 online, brand new, and replaced it in 8 mins after watching a 3 mins YouTube video with nothing more than a power drill. So...not sure where they came up with that estimate? It's unfortunate to think that we may not be able to rely on every Sears technician that walks through the door anymore.

Didn't have part. We chose to wait. 2 months later, gave up and bought new washer. Informed them but they really were unable to cancel even looking for the part. Month after that, they called e-mailed to try to schedule the installation and told us that the part had been sent. We cancelled AGAIN and sent part back. Still not sure if this order has been closed out or if we have received our money back. Problem caused by the fact that Sears outsources its repairs and its parts TO DIFFERENT ORGANIZATIONS and all three parties revel in pointing fingers at each other. I have used them in the past and things went more-or-less as expected though they basically want you to block out an entire day to wait for someone to appear and even then, they'll cancel at 4pm. The survive because frequently, they are the only game in town. Frankly, if replacing with a new what-ever-it-is-that-broke is possible for you, you should consider it. This repair option is at best bumpy and at worst - a word they probably won't let me print. This is not to say that the people actually doing the repairs aren't competent, friendly and fast. It's because the infrastructure they are supported by is simply broken.

You’ll get the same appointment availability, regardless of whether you book online or call. Booking online is easy, and usually takes less time than calling.

Tim, the very best way to answer this question with all the hundreds of designs out there is for you to get you serial number off the machine you have and go to Sears parts to look it up. You can almost guarantee that most techs will order their part there, so add shipping to your estimate either way. I doubt anyone will give you an estimate without doing the exact same thing.
