Whenever we go through McMinnville we always make a point to stop in The Vortex. From indie to mainstream CD's and records, they have a large selection of new and vintage. In a time when music stores are all but extinct, it's great to go to a record store that brings back the nostalgia of shopping in honest to goodness record store. The staff and Bruce (owner) are friendly, and incredibly knowledgeable. You can tell they care about music as much as their customers.

Super friendly store with a wide selection of records, CDs, and much more. The person working (the owner?) was super friendly and helped me get my bearings with the store. Totally worth checking out if your in the area and worth the drive from Corvallis.

When it comes to small town places, its usually hit or miss when it comes to quality storefronts due mostly to the shop owners unwillingness to change bad qualities they have or by changing so much, they may as well be a Walmart. It's a balance between those you want. The Vortex still has the atmosphere of a record shop from the 70s or 80s, when records were in their (original) prime. Now that records have made a significant comeback, its fantastic to experience a place like this. It's a smaller space, but what they do have is quality and expertise. My first experience here was Record Store Day 2019 and it definitely won't be my last visit. I was impressed. The array of available records and the ease of searching is exactly what you're looking for and I hope it will feel a lot better supporting a local independent shop than it does for you to support the big guys. Stop in and browse. You'll love it.

I feel like the last time I was in there they had a few. There is that vending machine on Baker that has strings.
Candic, I don't want to assume we just talked on the phone, so repeating our current situation: we're heading into the holiday with a number of Used Vinyl and CD collections to review from our customers and will not be able to accept more large batches until January of 2021. We depend on customers to keep us supplied with these interesting items to help us stock our shelves, so we never want to turn anyone away. However, we're a little overwhelmed right now and ask for some patience if possible. Thanks again for inquiring and hopefully we can do some trading/business in the near future. Bruce, the Vortex
Geoffrey, Currently, we have Taylor's 'Fearless' and 'Red' on Vinyl LP, and can get most of her catalog on both CD and LP. Thanks for inquiring! the Vortex
Yes. They do buy used albums; although they have to be "in demand" and not common records from my experience.
Wendy, Yes! There's one shop in town that specializes in repairing electronics like yours. Contact Bill @ Mac Electronics on HWY 99W, near Izzy's. (503) 472-0719. He gets a little backed up with projects, but he can fix most problems at a fair price, if you can be patient. Thanks for inquiring!
Thanks for stopping in and checking in person, Manuel! As we updated you then, it's on the way from our distributor and we'll let you know as soon as it arrives. Thanks again for inquiring.
They sell all types of jewelry, and yes they do have tongue rings. They're where I get all my jewelry.
Thanks for inquiring. Since the earliest Government Mandates, we've followed each regulation: implemented occupancy limitations, mask requirements for all employees, for customers [5 years and older], installed acrylic shields at our register and at all display counters where customer interactions occur, limited mixed 'groups' in our poster room, and sanitized surface/counter contact areas after customer interactions whenever possible. We provide hand sanitizer at both our register and body jewelry counters, and offer free N95 masks at our entrance to customers who do not have facial protection available. These practices have allowed us to maintain operations under the State of Oregon's guidelines, also within restrictions set by our County and City Government agencies who have inspected us without finding issue. We appreciate your concerns, and hope these restrictions will soon be behind us. Then, we will relax ours only when the government agencies allow. Thanks again.
If they don't have what your looking for in stock they will order it for you. They do have a variety but it changes and varies. They do have quite a few categories though. And always friendly and helpful.
