I went here and got a female Guinea pig named Loki. She is the sweetest thing and gets along great with my other Guinea pig! I had no idea how to introduce them, but the staff were super helpful, informative, and friendly! They gave me some advice on what to do and it was great! The only problem I really had was how loud the environment was, there was a small screaming child and it made it hard to focus on the Guinea pig. I also think it scared a lot of the other animals there. I would definitely advise an age limit rule so the animals and other customers don’t become so distressed, but other than that I had a wonderful experience and would definitely recommend going here!

I have some kittens and cats that I look after during colder months and surrender them here at the Kennebec Valley Augusta, ME. This person name Thes, told me that I can check on them, but few weeks has pass and all she tell me is they are at the back and nothing else. These, seems very unfriendly and not accomodating at all...

We adopted a bunny from here and they are willing to answer any questions you may have and they are very knowledgeable! We adopted during the pandemic and it was a smooth process. You just have to call ahead and make an appointment to see one specific animal at a time. We are in love with our little girl Malibu! She is a spunky little girl and we are working on bonding her with a male bunny named Maverick and so far the bonding process has been progressing nicely.

As long as it's from one of the towns they contract with.
Hi Maxx. Thanks for the question. Typically when animals are surrendered, they are not eligible to return to previous owners. Please give us a call at 626-3491 if you have any further questions regarding this matter.
Hi! Thanks for the question. We spay and neuter cats that belong to the shelter before they go up for adoption. We are unable to provide spay and neuter services to the public. Topsham has a Spay and Neuter Clinic. Their number is 721-8395. You can also visit spaymaine.org and they have a list of spay and neuter resources at low cost in the State of Maine.
I know from when I volunteered there that the cats and dogs get changed a lot because of them peeing or what not.could of possibly either not been changed yet when photo was taken or just changed when the photos are taken. Im sure they are using your amazing blankets. And am sure they really appreciate them ❤
To KVHS and look for donate and follow instructions. And good for you. They need donations.
Thanks so much! Is there a certain age you have to be?
I believe they answer phones beginning at 11:30 a.m.
Yes not sure how much but know there is a fee.
Yes
Kitten Milk Replacement. Basically powdered kitten milk in a small container or can.
Hi Jill, we do not provide vaccinations for the public unfortunately! There will be a Rabies Clinic held by the City of Augusta in January, or you can check maine.gov for a listing of area clinics.
Is this for 2 kittens? This would include adoption fees, meds, neutering?
Hi Fay, we have quite a few cats in the building and due to stress, they may respond in a way they normally wouldn't to a name that is theirs (or not). If you're missing a cat, you should call 626-3491 or stop in to take a look through the building.
Please call to make an appointment, Marcy- 626-3491. We need to ask a few questions before taking an animal in, and want to ensure we have a kennel ready. Thanks!
Hi Rachael, not sure which cat you are referring to. Sorry! Itd be best to stop in and see as well as chat with someone in person!
Puppy and dog adoption fees vary depending on if the dog had to be transported from out of state, or is a local dog. Puppy adoption fees start at $250 for local puppies, and $400 for puppies transported from out of state. Each comes already spayed or neutered, current on vaccinations and with a free vet visit.
Hi Bella, please contact the shelter at 626-3491 to discuss a surrender appointment. Thanks!
We have an ongoing online auction we would love to have them for, from which all proceeds directly benefit the animals here! Thank you for thinking of us!
Unfortunately, we aren't connected with the program but I'm sure if you contact Windham Corrections directly they could assist you! :)
Kittens up to 6 months are $150, cats up to 5 years are $75, 5 to 10 years are $50 And 10 years or older have no fee. All come spayed or neutered and vaccinated, along with a free vet visit
We don't, but if you contact the Community Spay Neuter Clinic in Topsham they help with low cost spaying and neutering.
Hi Terri, please call us to discuss a surrender appointment! 626-3491
