Small Town with Cozy shops with neighborly staff. Shop better than rustic but business hours

Albany is a town I have spent a lot of years in and know well. I have moved away a couple of times but I seem to be brought back. I like the parks, bike paths, and restaurants, and the people are polite and congenial for the most part. It is a good town.

In agreement with an earlier reviewer, this station closes much too early. It is often cold and wet most months of the year in Oregon, especially while waiting in the evenings, so to have a station close already at 5:45pm is inconvenient at best. The bathrooms and seating are clean and the staff is courteous. It would be nice to have wifi, but most west coast Amtrak stations don't, so this can be forgiven.

There is no safe place for patrons to wait for night trains. It is scary to wait here at night for 7pm train, because there is no security and there are a lot of homeless people with visible signs of mental illness. The hours of operation are inconvenient and it is nearly impossible to get anyone on the phone. The vending machines, when they work and don't steal your money, have overpriced food and there are no decent restaurants nearby. The seats are uncomfortable. There is no wifi. At least the bathrooms are clean and the staff are all business. However, as a facility this place really doesn't cut it.
