I went in to the ER with intense stomach pain yesterday. The waiting area in the ER was completely empty when we arrived (early morning). After nearly 6 hours and multiple tests and hours of waiting, I left still unsure of a diagnosis and went home with the same pain I came in with. The doctor sent me home with medication for what his best guess was and I am still in pain and don’t really know what’s wrong with me. This hospital does not care about your privacy, leave patients in rooms, no closed door or pulled curtains. There is little communication about what is happening with you. Someone came and got me to take me to imaging. I asked what for and they said they didn’t know, they were just there to take me. I didn’t find out until I got there what they were doing. They move you from area to area, you will be in one area for a while, then another for a while, then yet another before you leave. It’s very disorienting. One young man, who was there before us and already in a hospital gown, laid in one of these rooms curled up in a chair the entire time we were there. I never saw him move or anyone check on him. He was still sitting there when we left. As far as pain relief in the ER, they offered me Fentanyl, which I flatly refused (I don’t trust it) and when I did, they gave me Tylenol. Refused to offer anything that would actually help. Walking into the ED, the outside looks pristine, as they are spending a fortune on making the outside look beautiful, but inside the ER is another story. Overflowing garbage cans, the chairs are all worn and cracked, fabric frayed, the wood around the main station is falling apart, paint peeling off the walls and everything looked dirty. It made me want to turn around and leave. My experience at Salem Health Emergency was abysmal and I will never go back. Do yourself a favor and find another local hospital.

if I could put negative stars I would. Go to Silverton Hospital before going here. ER triage nurse does not do triage .. she processes patients as they are registered into the ER. Not by "emergency" of visit. I received her low level of care recently and she also tried to tell me what "else it could be" from behind the glass after I already had a referral in my chart for imaging (scheduled that weekend) for my reason for being in the ER. I will never go to this ER again, EVER.

Two days ago, my 7 years old broke her elbow bone. She was waiting for 5 and half hours and finally saw the doctor. During the waiting time, she was complaining her arm is painful. I came to the triage nurse the first time she complained, the nurse quickly sent her to the x Ray room. After x Ray, we were sent back to the lobby. Then we waited for another hour, my daughter starting teared and complain her pain again. So I talked to another nurse ( he is the only male nurse at that time.), he said we had to wait. I didn't feel he got compassion to care my daughter's complain. Finally we saw the doctor and be told her bone was broken and could need surgery asap. The good news is her bone still in right position, otherwise she would need surgery immediately. I really want to ask that male nurse there if his beloved ones got the same situation as my daughter, will he let them waiting and sulfuring the pain for 5 hours?

Literally no help at all over the phone. I asked “do you do rabies tests” a simple yes or no question and was met with “I can’t tell you that over the phone. You can come in for an evaluation and the provider will tell you if they do tests or not.”. Which to me felt like “I actually don’t care about you or what you’re asking I just want to get you in here so I can overcharge… I mean get you “evaluated.” Which the member of my family is high risk and I’m not going to risk taking her in there if there’s not even the right test. I know it’s a hospital, of course they’re going to have it, but the simple idea of easing my pain or helping me as best you can we not met. Do better Salem emergency room. Care for you patients again.

No. I've tried haha
Immediate family only and it's from a certain time
It is to the right of the main entrance and to the right of the ER pass the gift shop on the first floor.
Best bet is to enter through the emergency entrance and check in with security there.
