Good prices, but it was my first time kayaking and none of the employees were very helpful with basic information. They didn't answer questions and acted as if i should not only know how to kayak, but where they stored all the rental gear! Still had a good time but will visit somewhere else to do it next time.

Rented a couple tandem Kayaks to cruise around the dock area, good fun. Very friendly staff, would recommend not bringing keys/phone, possibly get a little wet if sitting in the back.

Located at Dana Point Harbor, this is a nice place to rent water sports equipment. It can be little hard to get to this place as it is inside the harbor. You can either park at the harbor for $5 or park at the free parking further away. Overall good experience to rent kayaks and pedal boards.

Simple and easy rentals. Wife and I shared a kayak rental for two hours. Pickup was quick! (They asked you to leave keys or and ID) Then get your vests on and walk down to the dock which is literally right in front of the shop. Workers were helpful to us get into kayak and situate ourselves—even took a photo. We got lost finding the place (it’s in the boat loading area of the Embarcadero)—Google maps had us go down the peninsula for some reason. But even showing up 15min late, they still let us use our reservation and even said we have two hours from the time we left the dock in the kayak! Overall, very chill staff!

"Winter" is a very popular time of year to enjoy kayaking in Dana Point. Unlike other parts of the country, we don't really have a discernible cold time of year, even thought sometimes it will be cooler. This time of year is when the locals take back the harbor for their enjoyment, since most of the tourists have gone home. It's a great time to try out our Hobie kayaks and Kawasaki Jet Skis.
For those that are not familiar with Hobie MirageDrive kayaks, the most important feature is that rather than using your arms to propel the kayak, you are using your legs through an incredibly efficient pedal system called the MirageDrive. Hobie has been producing the MirageDrive for about 22 years and are continually updating and engineering new features into the drive. For 2020, kick-up fins have been added to the drive on most Hobie kayaks which will automatically fold when striking an underwater object and return to their normal operating condition once you start pedaling. Also, for 2020, Hobie introduced the MirageDrive 360 on the Pro Angler 12 and Pro Angler 14, which allows for a 360 degree range of directional propulsion. You have to try this model to realize the advantage gained by complete control of direction, speed and movement this system offers. Free demos are available at Pure Watersports at our Dana Point location.
Yes we do. Just drop by our shop in Dana Point. We'll show you different varieties of Hobie 2020 Kayak models, answer any questions and help you with a very enjoyable on-the-water demo in Dana Point Harbor.
Yes, call them. They are very flexible
Yes, people absolutely buy kayaks has Christmas gifts. One would assume that delivery would be based on in-stock conditions.
The deposit is $1000 per jet ski. We don't run the card unless you cause damage. Otherwise we just make a copy of the card.
Yes, we have kayak storage at our facility in Dana Point harbor, but only for kayaks purchased from us. We have very few spots available.
Yes, from our docks inside Dana Point harbor, we launch all our watercraft rentals, which include kayaks, paddle boards and jet skis.
For this time of year, a reservation is not required, and we have plenty of kayaks. When the weather gets warm, a reservation is highly recommended.
The most basic Jet Skis with a basic trailer is about $24,500 out-the-door. This includes sales tax and licenses.
I'm not sure but I would imagine so. I would call them.
From what I can remember, they are open year round. Weather is actually nice during that time. The kayaks you would need to stay in the harbor, I assume you would have to go out past the breakers for the jet skis. Check for wet suits.
Awesome!
We are open everyday with the following exceptions: Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day and New Years Day. The weather is Dana Point is wonderful all year round. Come down and enjoy our water toys.
I understand from the Owner, Tim Boyer, that you can. Assuming you're part of a party that is also renting kayaks. Pure Watersports encourages you, as part of a group activity, to launch from their facility.
Thanks for the question Kimberly, Unfortunately, the Harbor Department has determined that no one can use a paddle board from our docks because of the amount of boat traffic. The options are to either walk the board to Doheny State Beach (about 200 yards) or put them on your vehicle and launch at any beach of your choice. We also offer transport to and pickup of the board at Doheny State Beach for an additional $5 per board.
