I didn't actually buy a gun from them (I have more than I need at the moment, thanks), but I went in to ask about FSC exemptions and if my POST PC 832 course fulfilled a requirement. I interpreted it as such, but wanted an expert opinion. Turns out, they didn't know, either, but offered to find out. A day later, they called and told me it did! It was really nice they took the time to research it for me, even knowing I wasn't going to be a customer any time soon. I'd also like to add that they are the most approachable, friendly gun store I've ever been to! Most of the time, when I go to a gun store, I can just FEEL the employees sizing me up, hands on their holsters, glaring at me. But the employees at San Diego Guns greeted me and came across as genuinely happy to be there and answer questions. If and when I decide I want to add to the armory, I'm going to them first and recommend to everyone they do the same. Prices are pretty much the same at brick & mortar places the days. Good service and good people are not. I believe you'll get that here. Give them a try!

Never, once, have I heard of anyone selling a gun without a magazine. What is worse is that, due to a patent lawsuit, magazines for the gun I purchased are not available. San Diego Guns unapologetically sold me a paperweight. I paid hundreds of dollars for a gun that will not shoot and ammo that will never go into the gun. When I first went in, the gun had a small magazine with it. I'm sure the video will show that when I purchased the gun, all of the correct parts were put into a black hard case along with the ammo I selected. When I picked it up, after waiting weeks, I was half way home before I wondered why I hadn't seen the magazine and blew off the fact that it ended up in the original cardboard box. Now, they are saying that it was never shipped with a magazine. Bamboozled! If a gun does not come with a magazine and no magazine is available, you had no business selling that gun. Unbelievable that no less than a half dozen employees were involved in the transaction and it took me to realize the gun was nothing more than a $600 paperweight, which was already well above MSRP, but I generally prefer to support local businesses. I was told no returns. I hadn't even made it home. "No promises." They will try to find a magazine. Everywhere is sold out. None available anywhere. Terrible, costly, and time wasting experience.

Picking out a firearm. Best route is to go to a firing range and rent a few to test out. Once you narrow it down you go to a shop(a lot of times its the same place you just fired at) and pick one out. They'll run a background check to see if you are denied for any reason. If not, 10 days later you can pick it up and go on your merry way.
A valid military identification card and official orders showing where his/her permanent duty station is located, which would have to be in California. That is the requirement to purchase a long gun. First have a clean record. Second, go to a licensed gunshop with a California DL or Id and be prepared to pay and fill out massive paperwork. Have an idea what you want to purchase. Deal wirh the "cooling off perriod"
