This is a great resource for anyone who is struggling with food insecurity or is low on food stamps. They allow you to pick the foods you take home, which is great because I often find with many food pantries that I don't use lots of the canned and processed stuff that is pre-sorted and distributed. This model of selecting your own food is exponentially better.

Great resource, high quality food and experience, the volunteers are incredibly nice, it can be hard or embarrassing to go to the food bank for slot of people, (myself included) but this organization makes it super friendly and you don't feel judged, just solid compassion, and an interesting "shopping" experience for picking your food. 5 stars

Dignity served here. Yes, a broad variety of fresh and shelf-stable food and drink are offered. Sure, you'll be offered everything from kids' clothes and books to seeds and potted plants to toilet paper and toothbrushes. What's your choice for meat? They have canned, bagged, and usually several varieties of frozen. No doubt you'll see seasonal offerings like school supplies and blankets. But it's about dignity. Volunteers, leaders, donors and recipients all are people. Many of us are members of more than one of those groups. Join us. Share our wealth. Share your dignity.

South Corvallis food bank has always been super awesome for us to get a food box. I do want to State though that some of the staff or volunteers seemed kind of snotty in the beginning but I think that was because they thought we were just doing our own thing when we were just new and didn't know how it worked. There's a section for people who aren't getting a food box to come in and get food and a number you have to take in order to get a food box. They also have pet food and a few diapers and some personal hygiene items that you can get every month.

South Corvallis food bank is open on Saturday, sadly, not friday. You may be able to drop a donation at Community Outreach Inc at 865 Reiman Ave off of 9th.
I'm not aware of any sort of residential requirements which would prevent someone (residing outside Benton County) from obtaining assistance. Identification is not a requirement, although preferred and usually requested by staff for informational purposes, along with a brief description of type of housing and need for assistance. (i.e. "homeless, single housing", etc., and "# of persons you are collecting for") In many cases, persons seeking assistance do not, for various reasons, have proper identification. The information collected is mainly used for statistical purposes, internal audit, and documentation of each individual's visit relating to their policy which regulates the maximum allowed number of monthly visits for assistance by each person. Of course, to verify policy, or for further information regarding services offered, I recommend calling their office directly during hours of operation. The staff is very friendly, and understanding to individual needs.
I believe, they do accept expired canned goods, withiin reason. Canned goods can be judged in terms of 'best by', as opposed to an expiration date, unless years have passed. I safely say they wouldn't accept, opened, or partially consumed food items, and would (hopefully) imagine that safety concerns would dictate a policy against accepting partially consumed food items of any kind. Frankly, there are quite a few food banks in the Albany/Corvallis area, as well as multiple charities offering a bountiful meal on a weekly basis. True; beggars can't afford to be choosey. But, , shouldn't charity, in it's own right as being an act of compassion, be 'choosey'? I mean, at what point does sincere, charitable, compassion simply become an offering of whatever garbage those more blessed have or should throw away? No offense, but if all you have to donate is expired, half-consumed food, you should be in line at the food bank to receive, not donate!
