My mother has been in memory care for close to 18 months and we've found her experience at DRV to be very frustrating. Lack of communication and multiple repeated requests to ensure her tasks are done on a regular basis have plagued her stay. The activities staff does an amazing job and she has some great care providers but during her stay its seemed that without constant intervention on her behalf she wouldn't be getting the care she should be receiving. Like most recently they removed her expensive adjustable bed and replaced it with a half railed hospital bed that actually was for a different resident. A mistake made because someone didn't pay attention to the room number of where the bed was supposed to go, and that was discovered by me not someone from DRV!

My wife and I moved to DRV 5 years ago and have been very pleased with our move. I am especially glad we made the move since my lovely wife passed away in December. I feel I couldn't be in a better place. We have many friends here and the staff is great. The facility has many daily activities for all ability levels being conducted in several parts of the facility. There is a pool and spa, an on-site beauty shop, our own dedicated pastor who conducts 2 Sunday services and weekly Bible study. There is also a very active Life Enrichment staff which offers a number of on site activities, as well as several monthly off site trips to restaurants, symphonies, museums, bus trips and visits to nearby tourist attractions. There are many more pluses about DRV that I could mention, but I will leave at that. For me, DRV is a great place.

We have resided at Dallas Retirement Village for over 5 years - a wonderful decision! The best part of this life is the friends you make, people that come from around the country with incredibly different careers and experiences. We are offered a large variety of activities - games, exercises, trips, fun events - that make a nice selection menu. Meals here are a social experience for us. It’s where we meet old friends and make new friends, all while enjoying good food and personable servers. We have a choice of dining rooms without no seating assignments. It’s an enjoyable life for our sunset years!!

This review pertains to the Independent Living arm of Dallas Retirement Village. My parents have lived there for about a month, and we couldn't be happier with our decision. The facility is beautiful -- spacious living areas, with exceptional maintenance. We had some minor issues with the phone initially -- but their service staff came out immediately and resolved the issue! And above all, we could not ask for a friendlier or more helpful staff! My parents moved from Chicago, and it took nearly three weeks for their furniture to arrive due to a problem with the movers -- but the DRV staff was there to support them from the beginning, even providing for their basic needs until their own things could arrive. Everyone went above-and-beyond what was expected -- and they seemed genuinely happy to do so. Customer service has been excellent!

Questions & Answers

Do Don, Margie and David Stewart still live there? If so, how can I communicate with them apart from sending them a letter. I am writing from South Africa and our mail is very unreliable. I would like to make contact with them.

I'm just here on a traveling CNA contract. You would have to call the number provided for cost. It is by far one of the best places that I've worked over my almost 10yrs as a CNA. Staff here does an excellent job of providing the care we all would want for a loved one.

Do you accept Medicare & Medicaid patients?

Tawnya Turner | Aug 18, 2021

Hi Maxie. Yes, we accept both Medicare and Medicaid in our Health Services departments.

I am curious why the elder care at Dallas Retirement asst. living is so nonchalant. The residents get minimal care, very little attention and I worry about the residents who have no family advocate. It is not a smooth running operation.
