Super place for camping and walking. The Dam view is also awesome from this place.

Visited the green belt on a beautiful fall day. We parked in the lot off the dam road. There were clean bathrooms. Also several picnic tables We paid the $7 fee. Bring a pen and correct amount. We walked 5 miles and then had lunch on a shaded bench by the stream.

This place was beautiful. We went for stargazing and it was quite decent. Spotted couple of deers and coyote. There are two parking areas around this trail. We didn’t pay as the machine was broken, don’t know whether that was usual. Better to use insect repellent if you’re staying late.

Great trail, pretty level, mostly gravel, 4 miles between rest areas. 2 benches, 1 at mile 1 and the next about 3.5 miles in from the northern entrance. Partially shaded.

Questions & Answers

Can I register my 2 man bass sun dolphin at this location?

No. This entry is not regularly staffed - it's really for hiking, horse riding, and canoes/kayaks. Park staff visits periodically to check for parking passes (either the self-pay one-day pass or the state park pass) in the front vehicle windshield. Hope this helps!

We are heading to this trail and wondering if it’s worth our time Do you have to buy a days pass to go

It's a nice nature walk type trail. It winds through some woods then follows along the East Trinity River through farmland. The trail is a smooth gravel walking/biking path. It's not challenging to hike. You'll probably see some wildlife like coyotes, rabbits, racoons, armadillo and maybe wild hogs. Enjoy!

How long is the hiking trail? Is there more than one trail? Asking because I live quite some distance from this location and if I drive there I want it to be worth it. Looking for new places to hike.

There is a foot/bike trail and an equestrian trail. Parts of the trail is closed due to prior flooding and repairs have never happened. Not sure how many miles are open.
