Manager was very helpful and friendly. Shoe selection was pretty good. Bought some low top Vans.

Honestly if I went to Journey's first for shoes 85% of the time they have it in store. It's less than 50% for others. Journey's also has exceptional customer service. The vibe is what always brings me to Journey's.

On Saturday of December 7th I started my first day at Journeys. My shift was from 1pm to 10pm. I was thrown on to the sales floor without any training. The store manager Will watched me do one transaction on the registers to train me and that was it. Later that night around 8:30 pm Ryan Palumbo the District Manager pulled me behind the register and told me there was 500 dollars missing from the registers. I knew that wasn’t good because of my experience of being a store manager. Ryan continued to ask me questions about all the transactions I had done. I explained to him that I had done only 2 cash transactions that day and the rest were card. I could tell he did not believe me. Ryan said he was going to make a few phone calls and then he left the store. Ryan came in about 20 minutes later and pulled me out of the store. That was when he started to accuse me of stealing. He said it looked like I had been ringing up all my transactions as cash and pocketing the money. I was beyond cooperative with him. I explained to him that I was not trained well on the registers. Ryan continued to threaten me with the police and said if I had anything to tell him I should tell him now. I told him I was being 110% honest with him and I had nothing to tell him because I did not do anything wrong. Ryan asked if I had any personal belongings in the store. I said yes and Ryan followed me back in to get them. I clocked out and grabbed my stuff. Then Ryan proceeded to follow me out and tell me about the bag policy I had no knowledge about. He said that we were supposed to only carry clear bags in and out of the store and that bag checks were implemented for ALL employees. Which I was not told of prior to my first day. Ryan asked to search my bag and I said yes. To prove that I had done nothing wrong. I let him search my wallet and my coat. Ryan proceeded to have me reveal all my pockets in the front and back of my pants. I was beyond embarrassed. People in the mall were staring at us as it happened. I felt like I was picked out of a crowd and pinpointed. I felt discriminated against. Ryan didn’t investigate anyone else in the store that night to my knowledge. I was the only one who was suspended and sent home. Ryan told me he would be in contact with me as of Monday December 9th. Ryan did contact me Monday of December 9th to tell me that they were no longer continuing my employment with Journeys and to ask more questions. I encourage everyone to avoid this place! Their DM and Store Manager are extremely unprofessional!

Manager on duty, Zach, did an awesome job helping me pick out shoes and got me new socks. Best shoe service in the oak park mall!
