I wasn't planning on posting anything here. The response from the owner on Ashley Fine's review though, wow. I'll just stick with the temperature. Ashley attached a picture of the temperature from within Memorial House from 4:07pm at 89 degrees. That was Memorial House's temperature as displayed on one of their thermostats. It was still 89 degrees at 4:41pm. I took pictures because I couldn't believe it. The owner response "as a historic building in July there is a reason why the rental fee is so low". This wedding used the beautiful historic White Chapel located less than 1/2 mile from Memorial House as well. The White Chapel was constructed in the 1880's according to their website. Memorial House is described as being used starting int he 1920's on their website. It was the same hot day over at the White Chapel. Their modern HVAC system was operating well, protecting the building, its contents, and our attendees from the hot weather. Is Memorial House just expecting the temperature to be 89 degrees in the interior of the building in July? The interior contents of the building including some beautiful old pictures are not going to be preserved well at that level of heat. There is apparently no modern monitoring at Memorial House. If my home temperature goes 5 degrees above setting, I get an alert on my phone and there is a log of the event. This is achieved with a simple, cheap, easily available Sensi thermostat. A historic building managed by Preservation Utah doesn't have normal environmental management controls? My main issue was with my daughter's wedding which was held there. There was absolutely no advance communication of a problem other than we're "on it". There was no proactive management of inclement weather or HVAC, both services advertised on the website. No, the temperature at Memorial House is not normal for any venue, historic or otherwise, and especially not for a paid event venue which has thermostats and air conditioners, which apparently are not maintained and inoperable. The wedding guests at The White Chapel were reluctant to be outside, on the grounds of the chapel. Understandably so as it was very hot outside, while the interior temperature was properly controlled. The same guests at Memorial House, within 1/2 mile, within an hour, were reluctant to be inside because the interior temperature was not controlled at all other than with fans. There were thermostats you could set that were supposed to control the operation of modern, 21st century HVAC equipment. I have concerns for anyone booking this venue related to the management of it, especially related to the temperature and proactive communication of issues. I also have concerns for the beautiful historic property. No, it really is neither normal nor acceptable for the interior temperature to be permitted to stay at these levels inside a building, especially a historic building. ------------ Edit: This review was in response to an absolutely ridiculous response to my daughter's review. My daughter's review is no longer visible. So viewer beware. I'm not sure why my daughter's accurate review would no longer be visible. Second Edit on Owner Response: This event was booked over a year ago. Transparency at time of booking for a recent problem? No communication about a recent issue whatsoever? I suggest simply acknowledge, there was a problem here. Venue is beautiful. I have confidence in the board trying to do the right thing, as they have given our daughter a full refund for the entire set of booking fees for this event. My review has to be honest that there are significant operational management issues with the venue. Booker beware.

Nearly everyone that showed up for my wedding, including vendors and the wedding party had a hard time getting through the gate. During our private last dance, 15 minutes before we were scheduled to start cleaning up we had everyone go out so we could be alone. In our videos the lady from the venue was cleaning the reception hall. Aside from that everything was beautiful and we had a lovely party.

It was a really great venue for my wedding! Everything was perfect. I didn’t know about the history of this place. I sent my brother a photo of us and he pointed out that there was a figure in the background. There was a female ghost at the wedding. I searched it up if this has happened before and there is a tragic back story of a bride to be that passed that will show up. We had purple lights for my event which apparently attracts the female ghost. The ghost was seen coming out of the bride room. Which was only used by me. No one else. SO COOL! I’ll include pics!

My wife and I had such an amazing experince with the team at Memorial House! We saw right away they are such a safe space for all kinds of couples looking to plan their special day. The team was so responsive and receptive to our needs. Dawn was able to explain everything to us clearly, in a timely manner and help us achieve all of our dreams for our special day. She helped us pull it all off in just 14 days. The venue was beautiful and the team keeps the inside and out in such great condition. The flowers, stone, and house were a great backdrop; there is no bad angle for photograpy in the house. We will be forever grateful for the memories we can keep coming back to for years to come.
