Get out of your zone and visit Art that isn't what you hear /see/ think about. This photographic exhibit from an Iranian artist was amazing! The joy and love of film, in its most basic form was....just lovely. Unfortunately, its position is not conducive to an area allowing for free thought. Still...try to get a glimpse.

A friend took me to the annual Art Alive weekend event and my first visit to this museum. We absolutely loved the ikebana interpretations of the pieces! I was also impressed with the permanent collections in general. It’s a smaller museum than what I grew up visiting in New York, but the pieces are beautifully curated and displayed. We are now great fans of the TERRA Fernando Casasempere installation as well. We will visit again.

Fantastic perm collection. Also saw an impressive Impressionist/pointillism exhibition. Steep at $25 but worth it. Fabulous Asian art collection particularly their collection of bodhisattvas. Security guards a little too prominent.

My absolute favorite museum at Balboa Park. I loved every single art piece and the experience of it all was amazing. I was stunned to see Frida's corset for display, it was absolutely wonderful. Will be back.

No, unfortunately it has ended. It only runs for 3 days. Sunday the 14th was the last official day for this run.
Try K Nathan Gallery in La Jolla
Parking adjacent to the museums can be tricky. Come before noon. Monet is open for public viewing, it will require a separate ticket to see the exhibit not just general admission. No masks required, no vaccines required for entry. However you feel comfortable, it's open for business.
Go on the website sdmart.org to purchase tickets
It's part of the exhibit, the artist is removing them from the wall, and allowing the public to graffiti and destroy the artwork. Not unlike how the natural land was destroyed by oil wells. That's my understanding anyhow.
Look up residents free day on Google. Every Tuesday theres a different free museum

There are different categories, I think. But the info should be on their website
I speak English. Sorry
Sorry can't help
The museum is within Balboa Park. There are several places to get a snack close by.

Hi Barbara - Thank you for your question. From April 27-29, all entry to the Museum is Art Alive pricing. Unfortunately visitors can't just pay for Nancy Lorenz that weekend. However, regular Museum pricing will return on May 1 (we're closed on April 30). We look forward to welcoming you to our galleries! - Kari
All the museums has a military discount on certain days. Others had military discount tickets available year round. Check their webpages for special events.
