My great-grandfather’s fiddle has been in my closet for 50 years. I took it to the violin shop in my town (not in Oregon) and was told that it wasn’t worth repairing and to play it until it falls apart and then hang it on the wall. When visiting Portland, I took it to David Kerr Violin Shop. They rehaired my bow, replaced the tail piece with one that has fine tuners, put on good strings, and repaired some cracks. It sounds great, is easy to tune, and should hold up for a long time. I’m sure my great-grandfather would be amazed and pleased to know I’m playing his fiddle 100 years later. Thanks to the crew at David Kerr for saving this wonderful old instrument!
