First impressions are everything. We had to find a hotel in Salina, KS and the Baymont had the highest number of positive reviews. But, your first impression will leave you wondering if you made the right decision. When you pull up you'll first notice the next door neighbor is a manufactured home park. And sketchy is putting it lightly. The online photo of the outside is misleading. And the lobby is very dark with more of a cafeteria feel than an actual lobby. Damaged ceiling tiles and water stains round out the look. The staff was positive and very helpful. No problems with staff or check-in. But you can see that security is an issue as you face two screens of camera angles throughout the hotel. It seems at this point the majority of their profits have been put into the cameras. The hallways were not much better. There was a musty feel that seems to attach to everything and we really felt like the hotel was one of the more run down ones we've visited. The unknown goo on the luggage cart handle didn't help. By the time you get to your room, you're sure you've made a horrible choice. The room was not much better. Damaged drywall, wet carpet, and the same musty feel. The best features were the sparkling clean pool, and newly updated shower and sink. But, by the time you got to those you felt you needed to shower off the rest of the hotel experience up to this point. If this hotel put half it's efforts into the initial experience that it did into security, this wouldn't be a bad hotel. I wish them luck.

Check in was very easy. Requested a non-pet room and was accommodated. The remodeled bathroom and shower was a pleasant surprise. Overall the stay was very good. The breakfast was good. Could have used some fruit and coffee creamer that wasn't powdered. Overall, the stay was excellent and I would definitely stay here again if traveling through Salina.

Very enjoyable stay…quiet and well appointed and updated. Very comfortable bed and very nice linens. Full continental breakfast with waffles, eggs, biscuits and gravy, etc. Nice walk-in shower - great pressure and water temp. I would like to see grab bars inside the shower. Will return.

So I'll be honest, I was hesitant pulling up to this hotel. Its cleaner on the inside than the outside would appear. Beds were clean and comfortable and room had everything we needed for the night. Bathroom has been upgraded to an AMAZING walk in shower and beauty light mirror area. Overall we were comfortable! Breakfast was pretty standard, edible but nothing spectacular. My only drawback was the dated/dirty hallways and stair areas and bugs actually collecting by the side door in the stair well.

The room we stayed in didn't have a Keurig, it was different kind. Like a Senseo coffee maker.
Wow, I guess so
