Surprised to see the bad reviews of Thompson’s on google. I have had nothing but great experience with them! When I moved to East County, I kept forgetting to drop my cans at my old place on the road, they walked up and got them for me. Stellar customer service. People in the office were great. Most of the complaints on here seem to be from individuals who don’t understand how to use the internet, look at hours, or use resources prior to calling in. Not really sure how that’s Thompson’s fault. It is the only option in Newport but they do an outstanding job serving our community.

I don't know why people have a problem with the dump. I'm a local. Love the place. Reliable. Affordable. Keeps Newport clean! Keep up the good work, Thompson's.

Have had nothing but superior service from Thompson's for the 6 1/2 years I have been living in Newport. Personnel is always courteous, helpful, and always seem to go the extra mile, particularly in exceptional circumstances. Thompson's is a well-run organization that delivers high quality service and excellent customer interactions.

The two older women in the office are beyond rude, for being older women they have no semblance of an idea of what customer service or kindness look like. I would NOT use Thompson's if I didn't have to for SO many reasons. But in a small town with no options we do what we must. Owner's - Do something about your ancient office staff, update your website to reflect office hours and differentiate between those hours and the station's drop off hours, and be fair to your customers - we are the ones that keep your business alive.

Yes garbage will be picked up as normal day on the 4th
Please check with Lincoln County Health Department (541) 265-4112. I believe they have a program (supported by grants) that will take the needles you collected. Thompson's Sanitary incurs a medical waste disposal fee to properly dispose of hypodermic needles (per our DEQ permit) to a permitted medical waste facility.
We apologize the payment box was full, our hours are 8am-4pm. Our staff collects from that box when we open, middle of day, and end of day. We also usually have a payment dropbox at City Hall, but it's being repaired as it was vandalized last month. We're hoping to get that replaced soon.
Thank you for inquiring about recyclables. Unfortunately, plastics #5 are not recyclable. The only plastics allowed are bottles/jugs, basically if it has a neck or the opening is smaller than the base. Let us know if you have any other questions!
It's about $30
Thank you for asking! They are not currently recyclable in our system. Two reasons: 1) the only acceptable plastic are bottles and jugs if the opening is smaller than the base of the container. 2) the size of the prescription bottle makes it too difficult to sort when it arrives at the recycling facility. Please let us know if you have any further questions. Thank you for doing your best to keep our recycling stream clean!
Yes they do.
Office is closed on the weekend.
They will take them. There is a 26 dollar min dumping fee. More if there is a heavier amount of trash.
