I had an awesome experience at this location. I got a new effects board, and a Kerry king signature guitar. The staff was as good as it can get. Very helpful and friendly. I took my guitar home to discover the B string was broken after releasing the tuning lock. I returned to buy strings and they gave me some free of charge. There was a small issue and they took care of me. I definitely recommend this location.

I love everything about the Guitar Center in Clackamas. Everyone there is friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. I just started playing guitar 9 months ago, so I'm a total beginner. They got me set up with great equipment in my price range. Everything I needed to get started. Ive been studying with Josh, and am super happy with my progress. James and Elvis and Toby and Ivan make me feel like part of the family. They have new and used equipment. Guitars, Basses, amps, keyboards, drums, anything you need. Even though Guitar Center is a big national company, the Clackamas store feels personal. A great store.

I went in looking to upgrade my amp and didn’t really know what I needed. Elvis suggested and EVH combo and put me in the amp room to try it out. He went the extra mile to make sure I got the right amp and I’ve been playing it all day and I absolutely love it. Great job Elvis, you killed it!

As much as I would rather spend my money at some local mom and pop type music shop, instead of feeding into corporate greed, I have to say I do like Guitar Center. I like the fact that if you know what you are doing, they leave you alone, for the most part. You can pick up an instrument and check it out in peace. Nobody hovering over you is definitely a good thing. And, if you have a question, they try to do their best to help. I mean, let's face it, there is a lot of equipment and instruments in the place, and to just be able to know a small portion of them well enough to answer specific questions is a feat! And they do pretty well. Still, I think it is better to do the research yourself, preferably before going in, but still, most of the staff there are pretty knowledgeable, friendly, don't have a know-it-all attitude, and are not real pushy, which is surprising because I bet they make commissions, at least on some products. Extended warranties, they do for sure. I had one sales guy really try to sell me an extended warranty. And, even though this particular piece of equipment that I bought is less likely to break down than I am, he actually got me to buy it. Now, that's a good salesman! Hehe. But, really, as much as I would like to be cool, and dis on the place, I just can't. They've always been good to me, anyway. The store (on 82nd) has always treated me right, so I do recommend them.

Questions & Answers

Did you know they will offer $50 for a $400 bass you bought from them?

Vintage Vince | Jun 18, 2022

Yes, they will pay you approximately 50 to 60% of the used items value. AND then provide you with a 10% off opportunity for any single item in the store! If one is not satisfied w/ said compensation, then they should sell it on their own.

Best question ever!

How are the trade in old gear works? Do I have to make an appointment ?

No, you don't need to make an appointment for a trade-in. Be sure you know what the Retail Used Price is on the piece of gear you want to trade-in. Then deduct about 30% - 45% of the Retail Used Price of your trade-in. That is what you can usually expect on trade-ins. If you are trading-in on another piece of Used gear, and it has been on their Sales Floor a long time, you may receive more for your trade-in. It is ALWAYS better to sell your older gear outright than to use it for a trade-in. That said, I have chosen to use their trade-in process and they have always been fair to me - within their limitations.
