I would not recommend this law firm. My boyfriend’s case with them went on for over two years and most of that time was spent in radio silence from his team. The only time he heard from them was for us to run around town collecting medical forms and documents they already had legal permission to receive directly from health providers. Something that truly bothered me was that his injuries and health expenses were called into question by the paralegal on his legal team. As background information: my boyfriend is a cancer survivor, but he is disabled and thus has many health problems. The vehicle accident he was in only exacerbated them and complicated his healthcare further. So when the validity of his injuries was called into question of course I was offended. How unprofessional and rude does one have to be to question a brain injury without medical knowledge? They get two stars because they did recover a sum for my boyfriend, but their lack of communication was unprofessional and caused him a great deal of stress, stress he still deals with. He would go months in radio silence from them, at one point he even forgot he had an attorney because it had been such a long time since he heard from his team. All he ever wanted was communication from his team, an update on how the case was going, etc. Was that too much to ask for?

Hiring Bisnar and Chase was one of the biggest mistakes of my life. When I first hired them I was told my case would be settled in two to three months. Around two years had gone by without receiving one status update and after six calls asking to speak to my attorney and not receiving one call back I wasn't even sure I had an attorney. Communication was so terrible I had to call attorneys that weren't even mine for answers to my questions. After several frustrating tries at contact I called asking to speak to Mr. Chase himself and obviously did not hear back. I am disabled from brain cancer and hiring them was supposed to make my life easier but that couldn't be further from the truth... I found myself doing their work for them that I was paying them to do..and was even given a hard time about my medical bills and expenses saying they did not seem real. Hiring them made the process 20x harder and an still stressed out to this day about how my case was handled. Sorry but I wouldn't use them again and couldn't recommend them. The point of hiring an attorney is to get more money and have less stress, my experience was the complete opposite They did not earn their fees or want to put the work in on my case. Unfortunately this review is 100% true so you know what you're getting in for.

Questions & Answers

What is Prop 213 and how does it affect car accident rights?

Bisnar Chase Personal Injury Attorneys, LLP | Aug 18, 2019
Bisnar Chase Personal Injury Attorneys, LLP | Aug 18, 2019

This is a law unique to California and denies the driver to collect damages if he is unisured. Even pain and suffering cannot be collected. This typically does not apply to the passenger but there are always exceptions based on other case law. The driver can however still collect for medical bills.

What is the best way to handle an auto defect case?

Bisnar Chase Personal Injury Attorneys, LLP | Aug 18, 2019
Bisnar Chase Personal Injury Attorneys, LLP | Aug 18, 2019

Number one priority is preserving the evidence. The vehicle or its parts will be an integral part of your auto defect lawsuit and the attorneys will need access to the vehicle so that experts can research the evidence and prove the failure.

There was a terrible pedestrian accident last night in Northern California. The FBI thinks the driver did it on purpose. 8 were injured. How would personal injury law apply to this?

Bisnar Chase Personal Injury Attorneys, LLP | Aug 18, 2019
Bisnar Chase Personal Injury Attorneys, LLP | Aug 18, 2019

In a scenario like this where local police and the FBI think it was deliberately done, this would fall under a criminal investigation. Depending on the driver's personal assets the family could go after him for their injuries, however it's likely that he doesnt have enough to cover damages for all 8 people. His insurance on the vehicle, if insured would also be a small percertage to each of the injured unless he had a very large policy limit. Most people carry about 25-50K in coverage.

After I've been involved in a car accident do I contact the insurance company or the person who hit me?

Bisnar Chase Personal Injury Attorneys, LLP | Aug 18, 2019
Bisnar Chase Personal Injury Attorneys, LLP | Aug 18, 2019

You should notify your insurance right away if the other party is uninsured. If both parties are insured, advise your insurance company of the other party's coverage and the name of their insurance. Don't be fooled however, into thinking your own insurance company isn't looking to pay out less and cut corners. If you feel the amount being offered for your injuries and damages isn't fair, call a personal injury attorney with car accident experience.

Does your firm handle dog on dog bite cases?

Bisnar Chase Personal Injury Attorneys, LLP | Aug 18, 2019
Bisnar Chase Personal Injury Attorneys, LLP | Aug 18, 2019

No. Many personal injury law firms will not take on 'dog on dog attacks' because it's hard to prove the perceived value of the animal and also which dog was responsible. For 'dog on human attacks', California is a no-fault state so anyone owning a dog is liable for a dog attack on a person. Many home insurance policies will not insure a client who has what is considered to be an aggressive breed such as a pit bull or Rottweiler.

What steps should you take after a car accident?

Bisnar Chase Personal Injury Attorneys, LLP | Aug 18, 2019
Bisnar Chase Personal Injury Attorneys, LLP | Aug 18, 2019

First and foremost be safe. We have seen cases where our client was seriously injured further by stepping out of their vehicle in an unsafe situation and was hit by a passing vehicle. Always pull off before exiting the vehicle. It is also required by law that you assist anyone injured in the car accident and if you were involved you must remain at the scene. Call the police. You need to file a police report and if you are injured and cannot call have someone do it for you. The police report will be a major part of your claim later on and will contain details that can support your case as the plaintiff. Do not admit fault. Anything you say after the car accident can be used against you. Of course, you should always be truthful but there is no need to admit fault because circumstances may prove otherwise. Especially if it's a complicated accident. Get the other driver's information. Having the other driver's information is critical to your case. Take photos of the accident scene.

A contigency fee may increase if your case goes to trial or incurs more debt than expected such as hiring experts for your case.
