My wife and I are big fans of the Goodwin. We have stayed here numerous times while we have been in town. I love being right in downtown Hartford, the Goodwin is truly close to everything from restaurants to theaters. We have stayed in several different rooms and each one has been excellent. We did a suite for a longer stay. It had an upstairs and downstairs. Two separate entrances, two bathrooms. The sofa bed is ok, but that's my only minor issue. We have stayed in large rooms with a bedroom and living room. The living room was spacious and a solid spot to eat when we would bring back leftovers. The regular rooms are cozy with enough space to move around. I have always found the beds to be comfortable. The staff has always been very friendly as well.

I stayed at this hotel 5 years ago when it opened. It was a beautiful and well appointed with a friendly, outgoing staff. I’m currently staying at the hotel (6/8 - 6/11) and this has been a terrible experience. During check in, the person on duty wouldn’t give us eye contact, only said “name. $50 deposit, put card in reader, here’s your key.” No hello, no welcome, nothing about amenities or about valeting our car. He was absolutely rude. Today, we came back to find housekeeping hadn’t gotten to our room yet, not a problem. We went to go sit in the bar area since other guests were there. Shortly after the bar “manager” comes in and tells us that this isn’t a lounge and we need to leave. Amazingly, he decides to kick us out and let’s a gal he fancies stay. I will say the housekeeping staff and other staff members have been friendly, but the two rude employees really makes me never want to come back. If guests are spending significantly more to stay at this hotel, welcoming behavior from the staff should be expected. I’m also sad to see that parts of the hotel are getting run down and the rooms are lacking some basic maintenance. The first time we stayed here, it was a pleasant experience. This stay has wiped away those pleasant memories and has dampened our trip. Very disappointing to see this place go downhill.

Loved this place. Very cute, spacious rooms, especially the bathroom. Some of the most comfortable pillows and beds I have ever slept on at a hotel. Softest toilet paper for sure! We came for an event at the XL Center and this was right next door and within walking distance of a lot of Hartford attractions. Would stay here again if we visit Hartford again!

King studio for one night. For the price paid, this place made it feel like twice the value. The room itself was spotless, and extremely well-appointed, bordering on opulent, but still extremely stylish. Staff were friendly, patient, and went out of their way to ensure my stay wasn't just acceptable but thoroughly enjoyable. Every star they've got is well-earned, and I wouldn't hesitate making arrangements there again.
