Had the pleasure of taking a nice relaxing hike at Panama Rocks. On a hot day, this is the BEST place to go since every rocky crevice is filled with shade and cool breezes. Tons of fun for kids that love to climb and explore and test their limits. There are gentle hiking paths, hard climbs, and easy climbs. Also available now I’d Axe throwing!!! Also be sure to pick up a few things at their gift shop like a T-shirt or a bottle of pure local honey! Divine!

Best adventure spot in Greater Erie area! Beautiful big boulders, endless crevasses to explore-fun for all ages, even my two-year-old. I’ve been going since a kid in the early 80s and the ancient geological formations never disappoint, and the amenities have only improved. Although I now live overseas, I make it a point to visit Panama Rocks each time I’m home in the Erie area. Panama Rocks rocks!

What a blast! We arrived at 10:02 AM for a 10:05 AM online reservation. They open at 10:00 AM, so we were accompanied by roughly 20 other people in multiple other groups/vehicles. This led to a bit of congestion/logjamming initially on the trail, but as soon as we all began to branch off and explore all the little nooks and crannies this place has to offer we almost felt like we had the woods to ourselves! We stumbled upon a neat cave on our own just exploring off the main trail and later learned the this same cave once housed a counterfeiting operation! So cool! The staff was friendly and informative. I would advise wearing boots, but we barely slipped at all with our sneakers. We spent about two hours here. The restrooms are very clean and modernized. They were cooking food for sale, too, but we already had lunch plans elsewhere. Please be respectful of this property. We found the occasional piece of litter here and there, which is NOT cool, folks! This place is a treasure and should be experienced in all of its splendor by our posterity!

Probably one the coolest in the way of rock parks ..they let you go off trail and climb between rock formations ..at your own risk of course.. you also have to sign a liability waiver ...there was no time frame for hanging out in a cave or any place you can cool off between large rocks were it was several degrees cooler..place was clean yes some slippery spot but nothing a healthy grandma could not tackle ..you can also make up your own rt for super hard challenge

Most activities are around Lake Chautauqua. There are several marinas to rent boats. Also there is a nice public beach at Westlake. The Dunkirk lighthouse is also cool.
During the winter Panama Rocks is open for group tours by appointment only.
