12/22/21 update ...gotten off to a bad start upon move in but the team was quickly to respond and fixed all of my complaints, they were apologetic and sincere. I appreciate their immediate plan of action my home feels more like a home now THANK YOU GUYS .........I literally JUST moved in not even 24 hours ago.. I have no hot water ..no shower rod to hang my shower curtains ..the closet door in my bedroom is broken off the hinges.. the bedroom doors are so worn out. The bathroom sink handles are messed up and the water pressure in the bathroom sink is too soft almost like its just leaking.. I feel like I moved into the slums!! The paint is peeling on the overhead light above the stove.. the cabinets are so old and have cracks in them.. how do you have cracks on the light switches!? I refuse to live here for a year I'm buying out of my lease! The apartment layout is nice but the appliances and condition is HORRIBLE I wish I never moved here!

I’ve lived at village square the past 2 years and I gotta say I’m not loving it. The apartments aren’t very good quality for the price and they raise the rent every year which I don’t know if that’s normal but they raise it quite a bit. The kitchen cabinets are terrible and there are 2 drawers that I have to use literally all of my strength to open and they’ve been like that since we moved in, and the dishwasher is very old and doesn’t really work well. There was also a very bad smell in both of the hall closets when we moved in and I’ve done everything I can to get rid of it but it doesn’t seem like that’s going to happen . On top of that though, the office staff are very rude and do NOT like answering phones, they aren’t very helpful with any questions you may have either, it’s almost like they’re mad that you’re even calling. They rush you off the phone and try to hang up before you can think of anything else you may want to ask. Maintenance is great and are always there to fix problems quickly though. So that’s nice I guess, but I will not be living here another year.

My experience after living here for a year: I'll first like to say the few staff here are amazing. Whatever problem or questions we had, they would tend to it with a smile, and I appreciate them. But amongst the unsightly trash, noises, homeless people, my apartment complex had a very prominent drug issue. When my roomate and I moved in, we would come home constantly to the thick smell of weed, and people arguing next door to us, playing loud music, heavily drinking and sloppily wandering in the hallways. Speaking of, the hallways were also disgusting, littered, and smelled aweful. I'm definitely sure the carpet never gets cleaned, nor do staff ever check in until someone calls the police due to other activities. Sometimes the smell would spread into our apartment, and we would have to febreze our own place when we would come home. Also throughout the summer, the air conditioner constantly broke down. The wires in the apartments are very old and rigid. They need replaced, but I guess instead they would just rather keep refixing it until it breaka again. Our water heater broke as well, and flooded the apartment below, due to it being old and clearly needing replaced. We would never bring guests over because the walk to the apartment was always embarassing. It felt like we were in low income housing units. This is very discouraging, as a Purdue student hoping to find a spacious place with some quiet, in close proximity to buisnesses as well as school.

Extremely unhappy. Electric bill is stupid high because furnace and appliances are old and not energy efficient. Bugs in the apartment. I was robbed and they won’t allow me to leave without paying a crazy high buy out. I was wanting to get another dog and they won’t allow it. Even though this dog is extremely loving and only a puppy. Have had very bad experiences with maintenance and office. Poorly managed. Wouldn’t recommend to anyone unless you’re looking for a cheap place with paper thin walls.

What if this is your first time renting

This place was my first time renting. The size of the apartments are what drew me, but we didn't even need the space, and the old conditions, and loud drugged up neighbors in the apartment weren't worth it. Instead I switched to The Avenue North, for $440/month. Washer and dryer in units, comfortable, indoor basketball court, clubhouse, computer room, huge lounge, spa, everything is pretty new as well. Kitchen is AMAZING and apartments are about 1,600ft of space.
